Hi Gabriel,
Nice work as always! It's also good to see the kit includes race parts - and not just typical car parts, covered with a NASCAR body! Looks the part and more fun to build!
Keep going brother! you're setting the pace!
Cheers

Looks amazing Gabriel
Joel, sh, don't let on to everyone that we still have hotwheels in our collections

An absolutely impressive display of decal application. One would never know that these decals are old, and pretty well dried out.
And Russell, somewhere in my model/computer room I actually have that Hot Wheel's car. Just gotta go find it.

Nick, thanks. Yes, these NASCAR kits are specifically build to replicate NASCAR cars, no else. There is no extra part on the sprues or extra decal on the decal sheet. Now, I have my reserves regarding the accuracy of the engines and undersides, because all seem to be the same with little variations, only the body shells and decals are different. They are fast and fun builds, but probably boring after a few builds. They make excellent "relaxation builds" if you're not afraid of decals that is
Russ, thank you! No Hot Wheels in my collection. I found one once, brought by the ocean to the shore - it was a blue Ford Thunderbird and I put it "somewhere" to restore it. I never found it again
UPDATE
WIth the review written and sent, I was back to the table once again, with some results.
The engine added in the engine bay. The radiator it's only test fitted - I need still to paint and install the cooling hoses - or pipes I guess they are in NASCAR.
Here you can see the radiator hose connector still empty and the perfect fit of the radiator:
Even buried all the way down in the engine bay, the Chevrolet stamping it's haunting my Pontiac
The prop shaft, oil coolant pump and the rear suspension installed. THe parts of the rear suspension were warped from the kit and the fit a little off. The front suspension went even worst, with the direction bar really twisted, and I had to glue one side first, then the other; to bad the main assembly ends lie that, after everything else was trouble free
Wheels and exhausts were also painted, and the body shell brush painted from inside and sanded with 1000 and 3000 grit. Probably the construction will end in a day or two.

Gabriel,
You pretty much nailed it why I haven't built another Nascar stockcar for some time. Basically, they're all the same. The Nascar governing body lays out a set of rules for literally everything, including the design of the chassis, roll cage, engines, transmissions, etc. Today there's no options period. You can't even make your own, but have to buy them. GM stopped Pontiac from making their own engines back in the 1970s to stop duplication of resources and funds. So your Chevy engine in the Pontiac bodied car is correct.
The decals are what makes the cars look different to most spectators. Same goes for Indy Car with the exception of what engine each team is running.
This is why I love Tin Top racing, especially the GT3 classes world wide. Many different makes to model, I never get bored with them. Just trying to collect all the BMW M series GT3 cars is beyond my collecting abilities.
Still, you've done a fantastic build that encompasses your detail painting, and decaling.

Thanks, Joel! Fortunately Salvino Jr. bought some molds from AMT and keep releasing at slow pace 2nd generation NASCARs and these have a little more individual personality. One can get a nice Olds or Buick For what I understood, the molds are refurbished, and the decals are Cartograf. Other alternative it's to get one or two NASCAR trucks. I'm looking into both possibilities for the near future.
UPDATE
Wheels are up! This time I didn't messed up the decals and they look pretty decently. A wash will help and maybe some silver accents for the bolts:
Exhausts also added, and, again disappointment. Not only that they are molded "full", but they are also warped and don't sit flat to the car's underside:
The dash detailed (sorry for the unclear picture) - by now installed in its place with steering column and all and drying...
I also painted the interior of the shell and all it's left to do now it's to add the windows and the final touches wherewer necessary.

Gabriel,
The wheels look fantastic. And yes back then there was differences in the body styles per manufacture. The chassis was a different story. Just two as I said earlier. I just might have to take a look at a Salvino jr. mold. The fact that they have Cartograf decals is a major plus.

She looks very nice. I would recommend drilling out the exhaust.
The truck kits are nice. I was looking At my Dennis Setzer #1 Dodge Ram after seeing your build. Need to find some missing parts before working on it again. Revell does make a Dodge Hotwheels #43 truck. Jest saying....

Neat work as always Gabriel, and the wheels on this build look great. As you said, a touch of silver and a pin wash is all they need.

Thanks, Joel! My usual drill: clear coated with acrylic satin, decals applied, clear coated with matte acrylic and done. The matte when applied wet it looks like a semi-gloss actually, but lightens the black to a dark grey

Yes, I should drill the exhaust when I had the opportunity but I chickened out. It has just a little flaring on the small section that comes outside the edge of the body - the part running under the floor it's much flatter in section. However, I tried tonight to scribe some deeper recesses in there, without too much success. All i need to do now it's to add some black paint.
Any advice for a NASCAR fan it's good in the matter, because I'm a complete noob. My supplier doesn't carry any, and I found two Revells on Amazon, decently priced. All I can remember one had NAPA livery. I can't remember the drivers. Also the guy that sends me kits for review told me he has one, but I turned it down, because of the bad timing. Maybe with the next batch.
Damian, thank you! Yes, I'm pretty happy with the look on these wheels, and only now I fully realize how much the decals add to the build. However, digging deep enough, I found IndyCals sels sets of yellow Goodyears for 2 dollars / set. Not bad at all, and I'm gonna buy a few sets whenever I'll be out from lockdown and enough wallet breath to spare.
Update
Next logical step after readying the body it was to paint (by brush) the black contour on the windows, using my home brewed "tire black" or "rubber black".
Then I added the windows, waiting now for the glue to dry overnight, to can clean everything properly and polish the car. Some other few details are to be addressed, but, from the assembly point of view, the build it's done:

Looking great Gabriel.
A useless fun fact about the wheels is that the center is not part of the wheel and would be part of the rear axle or front hub assembly. They are typically black or natural metal in color. A lot of teams would paint lines pointing towards the lugs to aid the tire changer in orienting the wheel during pit stops. Some were even cone shaped to aid as well.

Well, the information comes just in time - thank you so much! Since I painted my rear axle black, you gave me a good reason to add a splash of colour on the build nice! 👍

Back in the day, I ordered replacement decals to avoid masking the white area. If I can find the front grill again, it can start to move off the SOD.
That kit is not easy to find.
Forgot to add last night, I like how the Petty car turned out.

I was studying last night one of my next builds - Porsche Newmann - and I discovered I have to mask for three different colours. I'm not eager to do it right away

UPDATE
Here she is, finished. Finishing touches took me more than I anticipated, because I kept finding small defects.
Re-edition from the last build, I messed up the windows pretty badly. When trying to clean them from inside, polishing paste penetrated in the "gasket" area from where I couldn't clean it anymore...
So, windows down (the benefit of using white glue), clean-up, re-doing the "gaskets..."
This plastic i't very easy to scratch, but I manage a decent look after all:
Another reason of grief was this split and bent decal. The down side edge looked badly and I decided to overspray it with silver. Mask on:
Sprayed with Vallejo Air Chrome, that makes an excellent polished aluminum
Mask removed without problem, but now the new straight edge shows how bent the orange strip is... Oh, well
The body shell was cleaned thoroughly then waxed with Tamia wax
The wheels received a pinwash, the lugnuts were picked with silver and the axle hubs with black:
Witness of my laughable scratch building skills: it took me three days to shorten, paint and install the upper radiator hose. I discovered that the lower one I cannot install it anymore from lack of access space. Please don't you ever let me alone with a spanner!
Rear quarter view - I kind of like red dashboard dials. The fully molded exhaust tips were scribed deeper and filled with black matte paint. Not the best of jobs, but cheats the eye a little:
The empty exhausts slots speak volumes of how Revell engineered these kits by kitbashing - btw, the both ends of the coolant pipe had negative keys
... And I guess that was it! Some more pics:
My conclusions to the build:
Despite the age (1997), the kit it's nicely detailed in engine bay, interior and roll cage areas. Underside parts were all bent, full of flash and mismatching. The decals must have been state-of-the-art upon release, but 20-something years later they are dry and hard to work with. However, the film it is still clean and perfectly colorless, but it lost completely the elasticity, and in some instances the adhesion too. The windows are clear and thin enough, free of distortions, but the plastic it's soft and they scratch all too easy. The wheels are workable but the big stamps on the visible side (there is one way only assembly) it's not to my taste. Some Goodyears had these stamps - I've seen it in pictures - but the kit ones are overscale and look clunky.
Instructions are crystal clear and contain no errors.
Most of the build's mistakes you might found are the result of my lack of skills or lack of attention rather than kit's shortcomings.

Thank you, Jim! Yes, I should take someday some outside pictures. That blue it's nice, but in plain air "borrows" a lot of "sky colour", and the depth of the shine it's much more obvious. I'll try to make Monday an outdoors photo shoot.

Ryan, I gladly will, because I don't keep my models. The Caribbean climate "eats" them in 3-6 months time. Mst damaging it's the "salt dust" that tarnish the shine and oxidize the metallics, inclusive the BMF. For a few years now I either donate, either sell them. This particular two NASCARs were pre-ordered and by the end of the week will begin their journey to Canada...
I appreciate very much your following of the build from the beginning to the end - and I'm waiting to see you NASCAR truck. My supplier of free kits it's backing off now - probably they are (or they will become) highly collectible.

The only two unstarted NASCAR kit I have is the Kodak and County Time cars.

Yes, thank you very much. FOr now I'm stuck for not being able to find a Dodge truck. Also I don't think it's the right moment to spend at large so, yeah, if a wonder doesn't happen, it might remain yet another project written indefinitely on the wish list.
