Hi all I decided to resurrect this model. Not sure which way I'm going yet, tricolour, rat bike or maybe another custom job.

I actually quite like how it looks with the covers off and dusty it kind of looks naturally neglected

Ken,
You mean that bike is the real deal? Now that's super impressive.

Ken, it looks like you had your bike parked in my room when the roof came down!

More dismantling.
I think I'm leaning to stripped street racer.
I've put the radiator on the 1/12 porsche dio to give an idea of size (the porsche is not small)

Yes, got the roof fixed but a lot of dirt and dust on everything which is why I mentioned your bike. Unfortunately, only thing damaged and that was the body to my 1/12 scale Porsche 917. That was broken in four places by falling plaster board.

All tidied up now and Porsche repaired

cheers

If we couldn't see inside I would have sworn that was a real casting. Wow!

More rebuilding of the engine (I really think I'm getting the hang of making plastic look like metal) I already like the look of the whole thing over the look of the original engine, I thought I had slightly over weathered the first build so I'm cutting back a bit on that

Hi all started the first bit of surgery on the Ducati (no going back now)

I just hope the new paint job works.

I put a 1/9 bike in front of this behemoth to show how big it is.

I'm aiming for a subtle shade paint job, a sort of echo back to my favourite bike I ever owned (not a Ducati who could afford one) but my beloved honda 750 K4 (I know they didn't do it in the colour I'm depicting but I'm hoping the subtle added shade will work)

Hi all started the paint job, unfortunately it's a bit too subtle (I wanted a slight orange tint to the black paint job so went for alclad clear orange) 6 coats and you can only barely see it (not at all in the photos) so I will have to rethink and try another method.

More work on the Ducati I must say I do prefer the new colour scheme and the look of the cut down fairing.

Interesting and difficult but not impossible. Technically black is a very dark blue. Spraying clear orange over it will achieve close to nothing. The other way around will work: spray orange first (metallic if you like), then smoke in three-four coats, until desired darkness.

Very nice model there!

It's extraordinary how life like this bike looks, even more so in the close ups. I thought the tank had an amazing finish on it for black. Looking forward to seeing the shorten fairing on it.

cheers

Well it's done and I must say I prefer it to the blue.

Here is the blue version.

Yeah, the black just looks wicked on the Duc. Well done!
