I started this kit back on August 16th,



and I have made little progress. Life and all, you know how it is. Anyway, I say Chris' (hpiguy) review of this kit, and for some reason I had to have it. The only reason why I have any affinity for the Grand National is that while I was stationed at Ft. Knox, KY, in 1991, one of the guys in my unit wouldn't stop talking about his Grand National. He loved that car, and it really is a cool car.

Here is where I am so far. I have completed the Buick turbocharged V6.

Definitely a slick looking unit Jim, looking forward to your progress updates! Seeing a turbo V-6 is a bit different from our usual fare of 4's, straight-6's and V-8's.

D., yes, the turbo V6 is a little different than the V8 we usually see in muscle cars, but it's the 1980s, man! I know some cars & trucks still had V8 engines, but fuel economy was really starting to take hold with the American consumers, so I'd guess the more fuel efficient V6 was more attractive. Besides, I'm not sure how you'd stuff a V8 under the hood of a Buick Regal with all that stuff under the hood. NASCAR did it, but that's a whole different ball of wax.

Now there's one really cool car that brings back a ton of college memories. My good buddy back who I knew forever as our parents were friends since the end of WWII had a Grand National in Black, with a Black interior. No marking, nothing to make it standout until he ran you, then you lost big time, and forked over enough cash to pay for our dates night out. Never missed. It was a true sleeper. And when that Turbo V6 kicked in, OMG!! you sure knew it.

My images for this thread are in Imgur. Sort of trying it out to see how it works. So far, so good; except the Beta Forums don't like it.

All of my images are stored in IMGUR now as well, just copy and paste the "BBCode" and you should be fine.
