Hey Tazz....
I dabble in the odd auto myself. Haven't in quite awhile, but I still check into this website quite often.
Hobby Heaven
Also another site I use is:
Auto Color Library
Its good if you are looking for an exact stock color that came on a particular vehicle in a particular year.
For example, if you wanted to look up the colors of a '69 Camero.....it would bring up all the colors and paint stock numbers that were available for the '69 Camero. All you have to do is go to a local autobody or paint place and see if they will mix up the color for you. Most places will mix up paint for you of like 4-8oz at a time.

I find Brian's Model Cars very helpful - it has lots of reviews and tutorials. Other than that, I visit a few personal sites like Korkut's Good old scrap - Korkut is very tallanted and I owe a lot of my scratch building knowledge and techniques to him.
BTW, is that the AMT/ERTL Mercury? I have one of those - it was actually the model that got me back into military modeling, but more on that when I finish it... if I ever do
