I know that Testors kits aren't considered high-end by any means, but I thought I'd throw this out there.
I just received a 1/32 scale Peterbilt 387 with Trailer from Great Models. Diecast parts, mostly plastic trailer. Got it for $15 for my son who's a tractor trailer nut.
What you don't know from reading the description of these kits is that they're unassembled New Ray trucks. In fact, they're marketed under the Fastlane brand at Toys 'R Us. Nicely detailed on the outside, no interior to speak of. The sad part is that the kits typically go for $25 to $30 and you can buy the fully assembled versions at TRU for $15.
Granted, my son hasn't stopped playing with it since I finished throwing it together. He's happy, and so am I. But, seeing that New Ray logo stamped on the bottom of the plastic pieces screamed "Rip Off!!!" to me quite loudly.
