I just won the Italeri 1/24 Jeep on E-bay Only $12 Suprised I wasn't outbid Anyway I would like to "civilianize" it Sometime after W.W.2 lockable front hubs were put on Jeeps Any ideas how to scratchbuild them? Or does any AM companys make them?

Also what about late 1940's or even early 1950's era liscence plate decals? I'd like to paint it red But I want it kind of faded If I shoot a flat coat over the red paint will that dull it down Any and all help appreciated

I've got a set of the Fire Jeep sprues left over if you wish to go that route.

Is it to convert it to the firefighting version?

Yes, the Italeri Fire Jeep is the same as the regular Jeep with an extra red sprue that includes pieces to make it into a fire fighting version.

A long time ago, I bought the Fire Jeep and built it into the regular Jeep. Still got the clear and red parts kicking around, even have the instructions.

I would think you could make manual hubs with a short piece of brass tubing, a piece of styrene strip and a disc of plastic behind the strip. Then just glue it over the old hub.

As far as fading the paint, a very thin wash of white or light grey should give you the faded look you want.
