I have finally finished my 1968 firebird, thought i would post a few pics, this kit is not even close to OOB almost everything has been altered. It has a fully plumbed engine compartment and chassis the paint is hand rubbed enamel and i even spent some money on a PE kit. As always any and all comments welcome.

Whoa…she looks great. All the little added detail stands out, right down to the Pontiac engine blue. Your paint looks flawless. Black is one of the hardest colors to work with, you seem to have pulled it off. It's an AMT kit right..anyhow she's a beauty

I've been waiting a long time for this one.

Awesome paintjob. The engine looks absolutely great. Love the plumbing.

What did the PE kit contain?

Thanks Jesper it took me a long time to get back to it. the PE set had lots of interior parts like all the pedals, window cranks, rear view mirror and lots of dash details also came with almost all the body emblems you would need to do any of the three early firebirds 1967, 68 and 69, i didn' use even close to all off it because i had already painted most of the parts. If you build the model the only thing it didn't come with are the Pontiac letters for the trunk they are supplied as a decal from Revell mine silvered so i removed it i will try again later.

How long did it take you to complete from start to finish? Again, I love it.

Not shore David i think i started it some time last year but the time i really spent building was something like a month, the problem with using gloss enamel paint if you want to buff it out i like to wait at least a month for it to cure and harden the longer you wait the better. One of the first thing i do is prep and paint my model car bodies and then by the time i finish the rest of the kit the body is ready to be buffed out.

Wow, sweet ride Brotha! Your work on the finish was well worth it. It looks great. The engine compartment looks tunable itself!

Sweet!

Nice Firebird RV. I like the finish.Black is definitely not and easy color to pull off well, but you did a damn good job of it. The engine compartment looks just as it should. I had a 68' as well when I was a kid. Mine was white with black trim and self applied Ralley Stripes front to rear, Shaved the door handles, headers, filled in the trunk seam, roll cage,lowered...you know, all the stupid stuff that teenagers usually do to a classic car before they wreck it I finally got rid of it after one too many mishaps. The guy I sold it to finally totalled it in a massive rollover at 100+mph. He didn't come out of it too well either, but the car was beyond any type of rebuild. It went to the scrap yard. Sad day. Once again, nice work and thanks for sharing. "Q"

Thanks Matthew, my first car was my 1967 firebird it got a complete high performance rebuild on a 400 engine and trans i was driving down the road at about 40 mph and an old lady in a Plymouth Duster decided to turn into the front of my car against 2 lanes of traffic head on ouch that hurt recked the car and split the head open, my 1968 bird was parked on a side street and some old man in station wagon plowed into the back bent the frame and i didn't have the money to fix it.
