I just read a tip on using white glue as a masking agent.
The author used it on the crome parts of a car.
It sounds very reasonable and a very flexible means of masking odd shapes. It sounds like a cheap easy version of aircraft liquid mask.

Anyone tried this - results...

I can see this would be pretty awsome .

Well... uhmmm... yes, accidentally :-) :-) A few years ago, I use white glue to temporary close the gap on my aircraft's canopy for painting. I guess I applied too much glue, that it scatters around the canopy without me noticing. After painting, I removed the canopy and so is the glue. To my surprise, it also remove paint around the canopy's edge :-) :-)

Yes, I use white glue to mask all the time. I don't use it on just chrome though, it works on plastic in general because it doesn't attach itself, it just dries on top of the surface. It peels right off with a #11 blade nudging up a corner after an outlining score line through the layers of paint around the outside edges of the mask.

It sounds much more clear in my head than written, but, yes it works.

Tee hee,
Cuhail
