starting another one! lol
this one will be all black with flames on it. no front fender either.
so far I re did most of the engine with BMF all the main areas.. since the kit chrome had mold lines all over the place..
I also modified the rear fender and am just smoothing in a seat pan now. and made the gas tank sit lower
I did the seat the same as on the other bike, only I also added red piping around it.

I haven't used BMF yet and probably need to with my top fuel project. How well does it go over corners - did you use it over the ;cylinder head' edges?.

Sorry to be the slow one here, but what is BMF? I've got one of these choppers built already, and another new in box, and would love to address the chrome engine seam issues before I start the next one. Thanks.
Steve
ps: beautiful work on the motor and seat by the way! (you've also done a great job cleaning up the frame)

BMF is bear metal foil. It's a sheet of foil that you 'glue' down on a piece to give it a metal finish.

yes this is BMF it comes in chrome , gold , black, copper, and aluminum
http://www.bare-metal.com/bare-metal/bare-metal_foil.html
i I used it on the top covers on the engine, and the front and back where the 2 engine sides join, and the same on the transmission, and also the bottom of the cylinders, i didnt do the finned area..
it goes down over curves very good, just use a toothpick and a q-tip to smooth it and burnish it to remove overlapping seems..
but you would be better off to use alclad paint and re chorme it that way if you have an airbrush lol...

The BMF work looks very impressive.
I'm looking forward to trying it on my current project.

Forgot to ask - what is the piping made of? It is very convincing. The seat looks like a brand new hand made leather seat.

You must have quite a stash!! You have been putting out execellent models one after one. Bit envious I might say!!
Would you say Alclad is a better chroming agent than BMF? Or do they each have their own specific uses? Would these specific uses warrant getting both?

yes from what i see of other peoples work, alclad is a paint, it would be much better for re doing such a large part like an engine
BMF is mainly for chrome trim on cars and stuff.

Impressive.
The flames-- are they decal or did you paint them?---and if they are painted--- can you please share a step by step on how you pulled them off. This one deserves a "Wow".

No reply on the flames (i.e. decal or painted inquiry), but I believe they're decals. Very nicely applied, and the tie in with rolled edge red accent on the seat is a nice touch.
Steve
ps: if the flames are painted--a how you did it would be very much appreciated.

Holy crap James (jaw hits floor) she looks beautiful. I have to say I’m very impressed with this one. Your eye for detail is super. Man it brings back memories, I feel I should get out my leathers on and take her it. One of these days I need to do one, hope it looks as half as god as yours.

Very nice chopper. The paint job is great. The finish is really nicely addressed everwhere.
