After being "down-under" I noticed quite a few superb looking vehicles on the streets of Sydney and Cairns. I was perusing HotRod online and I feasted on this little beauty!! Holden has a quite large range of vehicles, but as of yet I haven't been able to find anything in model form.

More on Efijy on HotRod.com here

Gday Brian
Yep, Holden is a GM equivalent here... So has the lion's share (!) of the market with Ford, but of more recent years Toyota...
Have to say though, that I haven't seen nor heard of this beauty before!
With oil prices the way they are (at the pump) it'd only be made in small amounts :-)

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. From the HotRod magazine the Efijy was only a one time custom make. The article hints that it might be produce in the US, but maybe that was a wish.

I guess I hid my original intention with the post, but are there any models of any Holden models? I would like to model the Ute, that's also a cool car...

Thanks again!

When you say ute Brian, what era are we talkin'?
They are still produced today, but also date back to the late '40s... The new ones look like real ball-tearers!
The only models I have seen are pre-built die-cast examples, so you may struggle...
I'll have a poke around for you
Cheers

Beautiful car!
You may have to dig around for a garage kit or build one yourself.

I was watching some American Hot Rod the other day and was wondering if anyone scratch build scale hot rods like the Boyd specials?

I am most likely refering to a more modern Ute.The ones I think I saw were rather new. How do you pronounce Ute, btw? The word Ute in Swedish (has several meanings) has one meaning of outdoors, quite a sutable name for light worker!!

I spent my time in Church today thinking how I would go about making an Efijy. Doing stuff like this is something I have dreamt about as a kid. Undecided as of yet if I think I could pull it off or not... I've been thinking of playing around with vacuum-forming anyway, we'll see.

Scott: I know Testors has made a few of Boyd's creations, I think I've even see some Foose too, but not sure...

Vacu Forming would be cool - check out the title feature on the MG Home page.

I was pondering my '49 Ford Coupe thinking how it could be 'jazzed' up and customized. That may have to be in the near future.

Ute is short for utility, and as such is pronounced 'yoot'... But being "Strine" (Australian) it needs to be pronounced with a long vowel, 'uute'

After being in Australia I understand that very well!!! You're a crack up! LOL!!

I thought of that but I was looking for a higher meaning, something aborigine or something. Utility works for me, though. I would like to inport a Ute, they are way cool!! Citroën, Renault, Mercedes and Ford & Opel have utility vehicles here, but they are just that - they look utility... Butt Ugly. Mercedes look somewhat okay, but cost way too much, both in purchase and service.

Since we just moved to a new home, I dug up my drawings and such from when I dreamt as a kid. I've always been keen on vans and trucks - absolutely no idea why. But I have a few ideas that I might try out.

Thanks for the help!! Happy New Year!!

Im sorry to break it to you, but the EFIJY is simply a concept car, it was never intended to go into production and according to GMH, never will. It was a toy designed and built by the boys in the Holden plant to mark the birthday of the FJ holden hence it's classic styling. The car itself has taken the world by storm it even appeared at the Detriot Motor Show where, rumor has it, an unnamed male US Hip Hop artist offered a fairly large sum just to have it appear in one of his video clips.

If you want to see more of the EFIJY and holdens other concept cars, follow this link. http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/conceptcar?modelid=20005

As for the Models, there was a company here in Australia that used to do limited runs (5000 world wide) of a number of models both holden and ford, these were very detailed curbside models however the companies name has slipped my memory however the kit's do surface from time to time on ebay.
More recently however, there has been a lot of resin transkits surfacing from another Aussie, these kits normally just contain the body and interior which you then need to put onto a donor chassis, the range he's been doing include the latest Monaro (what we call the Pontiac GTO before we export them to the US) as well as the eariler versions ('70's era) a few Utes, Panelvans and one or two later performance versions. look for them undr Resin, in the Automotive section of toys & hobbies

It's deja vu all over again. I just read this thread the other day and today they announce that you can download the Efijy for free if you own Test Drive Unlimited on the XBox 360.
