Audi R8 V10 Plus is a new 1/43 display model by Herpa in their Private Collection series.

Audi R8®
Audi is known for their performance sedans and coupes which boast advanced electronic equipment to sense traction, torque, acceleration, and emissions. Their R8 is a 2-seat sports car with Audi’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, with a big engine mounted in the middle. This powerful high-revving Audi 5.2 liter FSI® V10 generates 525 hp @ 8000 rpm;
    producing remarkable power and performance, capable of launching you from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds.
It also incorporates the ingenious Audi magnetic ride;
    ...instantaneous driver control at the touch of a button. By utilizing an advanced magnetically charged fluid whose viscosity continuously adapts to driving dynamics and can be controlled electromagnetically, the driver can select from ‘Normal’ or ‘Sport’ modes to customize the ride and handling.

The car has another power choice: the 4.2 liter FSI® V8.

Audi R8 V10 Plus
This new model joins 225 other Audi models from Herpa, including 22 R8 models. The model is fully assembled and secured in a hard palstic display case.

I found no flaws in the casting or assembly. Some parts are molded in color. The tires have tread detail. Windows are clear with no distortion; you can see the interior.

Kicking the tires
The exterior features fine recessed lines for doors and hoods and panels, and deeper recesses for the grille. Herpa molds the gas cap on the right side with enough finesse that it appears to be a separate part. Underside detail is simplified. Faint windshield wipers are molded in the black chrome on the windshield. Two exhaust ports peek out from the rear bumper.

Individual clear lenses simulate the headlamps with interior partitions molded in. Tinted lenses simulate the tail lights. Separate rear view and side view mirrors are attached and they have reflective lenses. Soft plastic tires encompass detailed rims.

Inside is an impressive Tuscan Brown simulated Nappa leather interior featuring bucket seats, steering wheel, console, rear-view mirror, stick shift and dashboard detailing with instrument dials. A detailed 5.2 liter FSI® V10 is very visible through the rear window! You can almost hear the rumble.

Paint and Finish
Herpa finishes are usually very good and this model is no exception. The glassy finish on the smooth surface made the model challenging to photograph as the finish reflects so much light and background. This model is painted a pearlescent mythosschwarz metallic / mythos black metallic.

It appears that the designer rims are molded in bright silver. Chrome body trim is painted on, as is the Audi emblem and the car model. Herpa does not use decals.

Revvin’ up!
This modern sportscar model is an impressive miniature of the real thing. It looks great and has impressive detail. I appreciate the clear and tinted lenses for the lights. The finish is fantastic. It seems to have already attracted a 1/48 stylish lady (Not included)!

This is another exceptional model from Herpa for collectors, dioramaists, and modern model railroaders. I recommend it.

I'm a professional pilot with a degree in art. My first model was an AMT semi dump truck. Then Monogram's Lunar Lander right after the lunar landing. Next, Revell's 1/32 Bf-109G...cried havoc and released the dogs of modeling! My interests--if built before 1900, or after 1955, then I proba...
