Operational Overview
Great Britain fought much of World War I with two main air services, the Royal Flying Corps attached to the Army and the Royal Naval Air Service attached to the Navy. Both performed nobly on the Western Front and elsewhere, but as German aerial attacks on Britain, first by Zeppelins and then by Gothas, became more frequent with little effective defense, the public began to demand a change. A government panel headed by South African General Jan Smuts was appointed to make recommendations, and their overriding suggestion was the creation of an independent Air Force, co-equal with the Army and Navy. The result was the world’s first stand-alone air service: The Royal Air Force, officially brought into being on 1 April, 1918. In the 100 years since that time, the RAF has fought attempts to destroy it from within and without, and weathered them all to remain a world leader in military aviation.

If the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force isn’t a good excuse for a campaign here on AeroScale, I don’t know what is! So here we go…

The Rules and Regs
1. Entry can be any aeroplane from the British Royal Air Force from 1 April, 1918 – 31 March, 2019.
2. Aircraft can be from any place the RAF flew and in any appropriate colour scheme, but must be RAF.
3. No what-ifs.
4. Any scale or aircraft that fits into rules 1 and 2.
5. Models can be stand-alone or in a diorama.
6. Enter as many as you like but each modeler will only get one ribbon.
7. Models must be no more that 25% started at beginning of campaign and you must post at least one photo of where your kit is at the start of the campaign in the campaign thread.
8. At least two in progress shots of each model should be posted in the campaign thread and at least two finished shots in the campaign gallery.
