The Russian brand ANT Miniatures is a pretty moving company, releasing many miniatures , and having as main field of thematology Russian subjects. For me it was the first touch with Ant miniatures and I am putting under scope the N 54-03 Red Army’s Officer 1941-1943
Must be the only figure in 54 mm that is in one piece casting !!
Sculpted by N. Gordeev. Boxart Painted by A. Zynovieva.
The kit
A dark blue hard paper box with foam protection holds safely all 2 white metal pieces of the figure. (1 for figure and one for the base
Included also are 2 colored pictures of the painted boxart. The miniature depicts a Russian Army officer 1941-43 , with one hand raised holding a pistol , and calling his comrades to follow .
There is also a small base with some dirt texture
Pieces:
The whole figure
small elliptical base
Quality and Detail
The figure is not what you would call a high class figure. And for me this comes from not accurate and defined sculpting in some points and most in the face that I think it would surely need some more work. The pose is not that bad , and the figure is on the larger side of the 54mm figure sizes.
Material - metal – is good enough, the surface will need some good polishing and work with the steel wool, to be shiny and ready for priming. There are not molding lines and cleaning is almost not needed
Just to improve what u get, u will just to need a soft touch with fine wire wool, to polish the metal. Then some washing in bath with a mild detergent – water mix to make it as clean as it gets before priming.
Painting
The figure is an easy one to paint since mainly 2 colors will be needed one for pants and one for the shirt. Details are to be painted very easily , due to the “open” pose of the figure.
With some good paintwork the figure can be improved and used in a vigniette or diorama. As a stand alone figure I am not that sure if it will be an eyecatcher
Conclusion – Final Verdict
Its the first touch with Ant and since this is one of the older figures the brand releases , being honest, is not that good figure, but I will have to see some of the newest releases . It’s a medium quality figure with no big problems, but nothing special . If you paint it good it will “stand”

I loved to build dioramas and military vehicles till the Vietnam Era. I don't like modern stuff so much. 4 years ago I had a crush on figure painti...
