Introduction:
The more interesting the scenery you add to a figure presentation, the more you can create the feeling of the specific era, and you’ll attract the viewer. Making the figures presentation more realistic is always something all miniaturists seek. But it’s not always easy to have the idea, and more than this to recreate it, with accuracy and skill.
Pegaso Models' range of fine scenic bases (PegasObjects) seeks to help modelers in this effort. These 54mm resin kits are, in true Pegaso form, created by highly skilled sculptors. The subject of this review, XVIII-XIX century Tavern (by talented Greek sculptor Christos Apostolopoulos), is no different to this creed.
Boxing:
The kit comes in the classic size and shape Pegaso hard carton box, but in a brown – yellow color scheme, which defines it as being of another product range. The box-art, painted by Andrea Tessarini, shows a painted kit, which serves as a painting guide. The box is filled with paper strips as protection for the 3 resin pieces, which are inside a zip locker plastic bag.
The Kit:
The kit is very simple in assembly, and consists of only 5 pieces. These include: a thick part for the building section; one for the base part of a stone floor; a piece of a corner wall; a shutter for a window; and a “wooden” sign. The finished kit dimensions are 5,8 x 5,8 cm for the base and 10,5 cm for height.
Quality:
This is a beautiful sculpt, with plenty of well-defined detail; the kit is nicely sculpted, with excellent detail on the textures, and realistically rendered.
The casting (done from the Greek company YS Castings – Masterpieces) is very good, and there are no air holes or other flaws that have to be corrected.
Fit:
As the kit is pretty simple to assemble and will cause zero problems. It comes together with only some CA glue between the 5 pieces and the result is a nice setting for your figure. Just take care in handling once the window shutter is glued on its position.
Conclusion:
This kit provides an attractive piece of scenery. It’s quite unique, and that’s good. Suggested for all modelers. Just take care in painting and weathering and you will be “Pegaso Satisfied”!
