Introduction:

ASL-014 Medieval House Door is another base kit from the very useful PegasObjects range from Pegaso Models. These kits can serve the modeler as either parts of scenes or complete scenes; these highly detailed 54mm resin kits that can be used as scenes for figures, or part of the modeler’s scenic construction. Talented Russian sculptor Victor Konnov sculpts this kit, Medieval House Door.

Boxing:

The kit comes in a sturdy, dark colored, relatively big carton box. The box-art, by Davide Decina, provides 3 different colored pictures as a painting guide, and a figure positioning suggestion. The box is filled with paper strips, which serves as protection to the 3 resin pieces, which are inside a zip locker plastic bag.

The Kit:

These scenery kits are designed to be simple in construction and this one, consisting of only 3 pieces, is no exception. These 3 pieces are: a stone floor; a wooden door; and a wall half covered and half showing brick like structure. The dimensions of the assembled kit are 8 cm width, 4,5 cm depth and 10.5 cm of height.

Quality:

The kit is sculpted really nicely, with good detail on the textures and fine detailed on the door equipment. The wall stones texture is pretty fine and will help the painter to have a nice result. The ground part stone floor is also well defined and with some “strong” washes you will have the desired result. The part of wall that didn’t satisfied me was the upper left one (the “dotted” part) but this can be easily enhanced with some putty and knife work from the modeler.

The casting (done from the Greek company YS Castings - Masterpieces) is absolutely flawless with no air holes or anything else that has to be corrected. A thin casting line along the border of the pieces will be easily saved with a fresh blade with one pass.

Fit:

The kit is so simple and it comes together even better with some glue between the 3 pieces and the result is a nice house door section that will easily hold more than 1 figures (I think 2 will be nice).

Conclusion:

One classic style, nice and useful kit, which will help the beginner to have nice scenery for his figure or vignette. It will also be useful for the experienced modeler, saving him time to scratch the scenic. Highly suggested for all modelers. Take care in painting and you will be “Pegaso Satisfied”!
