Intro:

SEIL Models, from Korea has rapidly become a well appreciated company between figure modelers. Cooperating with both new and well known modelers, has released a range of figures in many scales styles and historical eras. Casting quality is superb , and this has done good impressions along with the fact that they offer photo etched name plates, and alternative parts in many kits.

Here we will examine the latest bust release from SEIL Models, which recreates SB20003 Grand General of Chin (215 BC) sculpted by Zhou Chun Mei.

The Bust (what’s in the box):

This 200mm bust, comes in a total of 10 pieces. 7 white metal ones 2 resin and one Photo Etched. A resin cylindrical peg for mounting the bust on the base, 6 pieces for the torso , the head and a cylindrical crest , and finally a photo etched name plate.

We must mention Seil Models packaging boxes that are really superb. Sturdy, hard luxury black carton box with a colored printed sleeve with 2 color pictures of the painted bust (box – art). Inside all the pieces are carefully placed, in thick foam sheets sandwich, are perfectly protected. A very useful package.

Quality – Detail:

Seil is really enhancing the company name, with the superb quality of casting both in the white cream colored resin, and the white metal parts, that are among the best finished metals in the figures world.

All pieces are in fine situation, and cleaning process will last ..2 minutes.

Everything fits perfectly, but I would suggest to use 2 parts epoxy glue as the metal pieces are heavy enough, and you wouldn’t like to have any after painting surprises!

You can assemble most of the bust, and leave aside for separate painting and mounting the head and the crest.

The sculpture is very clean and well defined, the characteristics of the face are perfect, and the details on the armor are crying for delicate treatment to make the bust more impressive. It will be a challenge in a big bust like this to achieve high grade of realism on the metal parts.

Painting it:

The box art can act as a characteristic paint guide, following historical reference that SEIL used in the creation.

I think it can be followed or you can use other alternative cloth colors to much the era and nationality, after some research.

It is a bust for every one, since the details are good sized, and the color combinations are easy to follow. Experience will play its role when it comes for the extra touches on the face and metal parts. There boys and men will be separated!

This can be a different bust theme in your collection and a good piece for shows and competitions.

For bust lovers, and also for every painter this is this is a problem free bust of high quality to paint. Casting , good fit, clean surface and easy paint scheme is attractive. Big size, well that’s on you if you like it or not. Personally I like it. Name plate is a nice extra touch also.
