BRAVO-6 figures representing the characters of the movie Platoon showed us Vladimir Demchenko’s talent on catching the alikeness to the real object. This time he sculpted another legendary movie character. The kit B6-35040 U.S. Army Special Forces Officer shows great alikeness to the Colonel Mike Corby character acted by Duke - John Wayne on the Geren Berets movie.
about the figure

The Green Berets is a 1968 war film featuring John Wayne, David Janssen and Jim Hutton, nominally based on the eponymous 1965 book by Robin Moore, though the screenplay has little relation to the book. Wayne plays the hard-nosed rough-and-ready Colonel Mike Kirby who heads a courageous bunch of tough-as-nails Green Berets determined to capture an important enemy general. They are accompanied by a skeptical reporter who soon becomes a gung-ho red-white-and-blue patriot as the Colonel and the others lecture and show him why they must defeat the Viet Cong. Interestingly, despite the massive anti-war sentiments of the times, the film grossed over $11 million at the box-office and is especially notable for the fine battle scenes. The film also features the hit song Ballad of the Green Berets, sung by Sgt. Barry Sadler.

The figure comes well packaged in standard BRAVO-6 light brown cardboard box in 50x80x25 mm dimensions. The front part of the box shows a photo of the assembled and painted figure which can serve as a basic painting guide.

The figure parts are represented with the casting blocks inside the box and are seperately inserted in small plastic zip-lock bags to avoid unexpected damages during storage and transfer.

The figure is sculpted by Vladimir Demchenko and comes in medium grey resin parts as all other BRAVO-6 figures. The resin quality is very good and details are crisp. No air bubbles, excess resin or any casting mistakes on the figure. The junctions between figure parts and casting blocks were well placed and the parts can be easily removed from the blocks with no damage. The figure is almost ready to paint but I advice you a short sanding for the slightly visible seamline on the right arm holding the rifle. Note that M-16 should be removed carefully from the casting block as rifle muzzle is fragile and can be damaged.

The main part is Body with head, right upper arm and legs. Facial details are perfect showing a great alikeness to Duke and he wears a right pulled special forces beret with a badge on the front left. He wears typical US Army tropical combat uniform with 4 flip-top cover pockets jacket and trousers with 2 flip-top cover cargo pockets on the sides. The uniform has shoulder straps and epaulettes with rank insignia. Cloth folds of the uniform, cargo pockets and seam on the skirts of jacket are well defined. He has M-1956 LCE ( Load Carrying Equipment) which consists of canvas utility belt and equipment suspenders. Two M-16 ammo pouches are sculpted on the figure. He has black leather- Olive drab canvas jungle boots on his feet.
  • Right arm : He carries a M-16A1 and the metal bracelet on the wrist is a nice detail.
  • Left arm : Posed to put his hand on his waist. Wrist watch is well defined.
    Other parts are;
  • M1956 Small arms case or compass pouch
  • M-1956 One quart plastic canteen in canvas cover - 2 pieces
  • M7 Bayonet in M8A1 scabbard
  • SOG Bowie Knife
    Bayonet and bowie knife is optional to attach the right back of the figure.

    For the fans of Duke and the movie- Green Berets, this is a very nice to figure to paint with its great sculpt and high quality cast.

    Very Highly Recommended
    Highs: Great subject, absolutely a perfect alikeness on facial details, nice pose, very nice sculpt and great cast.
    Lows: No lows on this product.
    Verdict: This figure is a MUST for the Duke fans and Green Berets movie fans.
