Ok, these are the current few I have slated for the build{there is one more coming though}-
-Mopar, This will be the classic GTX but with a twist. I plan on remaking it into a modern concept car
-This is the least ugly Chevy I could find-
-oops, these too,

Just ordered the Mr Model Archer wheels for the GTX...alittle pricey, but with that pentastar pattern it'll be a perfect fit!

I would post some pictures of my progress, but that MOPAR rust still has me befuddled. Apparently, it was the only thing holding the Viper together.

Hey, whaddaya know! I actually made some progress! At least I'm excited.
My wifes propensity to have me watch TV with her in the evenings prompted me to start taking a kit downstairs. We're together, she drives the TV and I scrape and melt plastic for an hour or so. It's working so far...

I like having a little TV time with the wife as much as she enjoys it with me. We are in our 28th year, and we both still love the little things, like TV time. It is also a great opportunity for me to remove molding seems, and buff out the plastic or painted surfaces. I have a number of cars that have their molding lines removed, and quite a few that have their bodies painted and buffed to a high sheen finish. They are sitting in the display case. No other work has been done on them. I know it sounds kind of silly, but I have gotten a lot of satisfaction from just obtaining a good finish on them.
Charlie, Is that a silver base coat for a candy finish, or is it just the camera and lighting in the pictures? Whatever it is, it looks pretty good so far. It looks like it is going together nice and fast. It also looks like you have a little wear on the tires, which I think is a nice detail on any car.

My wife hogs the clicker{remote} and there's nothing that really calls to me TV wise....too many of her Cop shows, desperate wives show and ER{or whatever it is}....I'll go build a model...that channel is always on and good to see!

Hey Carl, So you're already working that angle. Brilliant! Everybody's happy at the end of the night, And when Momma's happy... say it with me, Everybody's happy!
The appeal of just creating a nice finish isn't lost on me. I find that admirable considering that's the most difficult and noticeable part of the build!
Thanks for the motivational compliments. When you have a kit with 14 parts it gives you the opportunity to move fast or mire yourself in scratch-bashing hell.
I'll end up doing both. The Silver base coat is actually... Rustoleum "Chrome". I restored some tabletop jukebox selectors for a company a while back and had this can left over. Since I'm going with the Post-Apocalyptic Car Wars theme, I figured the Dodge could have a coat of "Chrome" as laser reflective paint. Unfortunately, I laid it on too thick and it blushed as the paint was outgassing. So I'll try to polish it up.
It's OK though. If it was the Chevy, I'd have been upset.

I'm with you guys, there's absolutely nothing worth watching on TV these days. My wife used to claim that when I picked up the remote it wasn't to see WHAT was on, it was to see WHAT ELSE was on !!

Heheheheeeeeeee, that's the spirit !!
I haven't done much more than work on the main body of the Chev at this stage, cleaning up some flash and rough edges.
Carry on chaps, carry on.

Well, I gotta say, that AMT Charger is super realistic. When I opened the box, a bunch of smoke came out. At first I thought 'cool, the little bugger is burning the tires', but then the smell of oil and tranny fluid reached my nose. Needless to say I'll start the 'vette while the Dodge sits in the parts washer...like I said, very realistic.
Still undecided in what to use for the vette color...Artic White in rememberance of the one my wife totaled, or Torch Red for the 'survivor' which she now uses. I'm leaning towards the red, as thinking of the white one all mangled brings a tear to my eye.

Guys, I'm turning into the worst Group Build leader in the history of Group Build Leaders. In fact, I'd almost call myself a Hemi Group Build Leader (almost I said).
I apologise for my lack of presence or progress, work has been mad this last 2 weeks and bench time really scarce. All I have managed to do is a bit of fine cleaning and sanding, and today I managed to get a coat of nice Chev orange on the 283. I'll let it dry overnight and give it a clean-up and top coat tomorrow before I post pics, and I might even get a coat of primer on the body tomorrow as well.
Cheers, D

..oh no, they were that fast back in '86....there wasn't a mustang Gt or LX, Monte SS, Turbo TA or camaro that would beat mine in the 1340...a GNX and a '69 GTO were the only ones.
