Actually I haven't gotten much of anything done on the bench the last few days myself...popped in here to toss the random chevy insult out but that was it. I'm researching an old car to purchase........and believe it or not it's not a dodge or a chevy!

My wifes propensity to have me watch TV with her in the evenings prompted me to start taking a kit downstairs. We're together, she drives the TV and I scrape and melt plastic for an hour or so. It's working so far...
Charlie

Ha! That's my modus operandi too. I drag something up from the cold basement to have together time (and hopefully not destroy the dining room table or floor in the process ).

In fact, I'd almost call myself a Hemi Group Build Leader

Don't make me start calling you Dodgian...

I double dog dare yah!

I double dodge dare yah!

Actually, I can see your point that dog and dodge are interchangable. My apologies to all you dog lovers. My regrets to all you dodge lovers.

Hiya folks, time for a little progress report from Chateau Reggie !!

I primed the engine parts with Tamiya Semi-gloss Black acrylic (after washing off the residual crud from the kit chrome) . . .

Now some of these parts are staying black (radiator, fan, distributor, oil filter, ignition coil), but a few parts got a coat of Alclad Airframe Aluminium

and a few more parts got to taste the Alclad Chrome

I like the look of the finned "Corvette" rocker covers, but I think I will stick with the "Chevrolet" style for the sake of posterity here. Maybe the 'Vette covers will make a nice touch sitting in a scratch-built carton on the back seat ??

Anyway, it was great to get some time at the bench after about 2 weeks off, hoping I can get the engine basic assembly together in the next few days.

Carry on chaps, and never forget that the worst day driving a Chevy is still far better than the best day driving a Hemi !

Cheers, D

Here's my two entries. Getting some progress on the Judge already. I don't really have a preference here, I was always a blue oval guy. Sorry. However, my dad was in UAW and worked for Budd Company building bodies and chassis for Chrysler. So, at least I have that going for me...

Ok....I got a direction now!
-My "Mopar #1" will be a 1969 Super Bee WM21 coupe{swing out rear windows}, done in B-7 medium blue metallic...........and a Mod Top!

Ohhhhhh yahhhh! Psychedelic Maaaaaan!
-My chevy will be a mid '70s van with none of the usual round kit windows and done in a two tone paint scheme...of somekind...I haven't decided yet.

...it will be towed behind "Mopar #2", a former lil red express truck that will be done up as one of the old gas station wreckers{remember those?!}.

-Mopar #3, if time and build table contents allow, will be my origonal idea- a concept Roadrunner.
There, now I feel better about having a plan finally...time to get building I guess!

Hmmm....searching "wrecker box line drawings" online has been an unfulfilled event....best I could come up with is a canfield wrecker 3/4 rear/side view brochure and ebay is nearly void of anything useful for the period I'm after. Anyone know of a line drawing for an old single or twin boom wrecker body - I'm really after the old cable types and not hydraulic......

Cool plan Bob, apart from the towing bit, good luck with your search for drawings !

A little progress on my 57 powerplant . . . .

Still a few odds and ends to attach, and since this will be a "daily driver" and not a pristine showcar, I will be adding a bit more grime to the mix once the assembly is done.

Cheers, D

Like your plan Bob.

If it exsisted as a kit, this would be the Chevy I would build. That's got to be one of the ugliest cars ever made. EVER. A vast improvement over the original though

Woke up this morning, the sun was shining and birds singing. It was bound to be nothing less than a marvelous day. Or so I thought. Less than an hour ago I heard the faint yet distinct sound of a V8 not to far away and closing. It was obvious the driver had problems with the engine, so naturally I assumed it to be a Chevy. I was right. My neighbours 19 year old son had borrowed a Corvette(2000 something, convertible) of a friend of his farthers. He came to pick up his 16 year old brother to go cruising. Being a good guy, I naturally tried to persuade them not to go anywhere in that "Car" Not that I'm envious.
I explained they would be better of if they closed the top an returned the car immediately and hoping they would not be seen driving that thing, but to no avail.
They were under the impression(Delusional) driving in the Corvette would be cool and get them girls. Yet again I tried to explain how wrong they were, but with little luck. Top down the two boy's took of in the Corvette. What a sad day, they were good kids.

...an hour later the boys ran out of gas and an nice young man in an old dodge{'68 coronet wagon}, filled with cute girls, gave them a ride to a service station for some gas and oil{it was a chevy after all so it needs alot of BOTH}....the owner of the dodge said, before driving away with the girls, I guess they like a guy with money and a running car who still has money leftover afterwards{ remember- girls cost far more money than any car!!!} The two young boys learned a valueable lesson that day...it's better to walk and have money than even borrow a chevy!
