Masking multiple coats question, need advice.

I am painting a 1/32 Porsche in the Flying Lizard livery. I want my edges between the silver and red sharp and clean. I have some questions. I have sprayed two coats of Tamiya fine primer and two coats of silver. Tonight I will apply the lizard heads on the doors and hood.
First question. I need to seal the decals in because I will have to mask over the decals. Should I use Tamiya clear over the decals or Future? I don't want to melt the decals.
second question. When I apply the masking (Tamiya masking tape)it will have to go over part of the decal. I want to paint the edge of the masking so none of the red will bleed under it. Should I use Future on the edge as a sealer or Tamiya clear.
Third question. Can I spray Tamiya over the top of the future?
What else should I pay attention to that I haven't thought about. This is a one shot deal because I only have one set of decals.

I would wait until all the paint is on before applying the decals. Any masking tape would pick up your decal if you did not clear over it and thus ruining them.

Tamiya clear, in the can typically is alright when working with decals, however it may be wise to test on a sample sheet or a part of the decal sheet you do not intend on using.

Greg,
I've learned the hard way that even after clear coating decals, taping over them can, and often does pull up that part of the decal. I suspect that the adhesive just pulls up on everything it comes in contact with, and decals are a lot more delicate then paint and primer.

Decaling is almost always left till all the painting and a clearcoat base for decaling has been applied. Then you should seal the decals with a few coats of clear gloss.

I've never had to specifically seal the edges of Tamiya tape. Just make sure that the 1st coat is a mist tack coat that will also seal the tape which is the 1st part of the painting process.

As for painting over Future/Pledge, yes you can as with any clearcoat.

You can apply a mist coat of the base colour AFTER the masking, this prevents any bleeding of the second colour under the tape. In your case here, Silver then mask then mist coat Silver then Red.
