PS- I've been kind of thinking of "doing" a "derelict" Model A; weather-beaten, faded paint in places, missing "body parts", dust & rust, (of course!), weeds growing around the thing, maybe even a few bullet holes- You get the idea...

Go for it Dennis, I'm having fun doing the same thing with a '36 Ford Coupe HERE.

Cheers, D

In all seriousness, it was only through Joel's encouragement that I picked up on the Blue Oval Campaign.

Well somebody has to prod you guys occasionally to see if you're awake!

Hello, Damian!

Just a little side-note with a bit of info- FORD also made the '36 Coupe in a 3-window model, and so did AMT quite a few years ago. I built one of those in 1963, when I was 10 years old...

Interestingly, I built my first MONOGRAM 1930 FORD Model A Coupe that same Summer. Ahh, NOSTALGIA...

We are down to the sharp end now folks, "T-minus 2 days and counting" and there's nothing more appropriate for the sharp end than the 1966 GT40!

For you Patrick

.

And this last one deserves a link to the Sotheby's auction page where it sold for a cool $9.8 million

What a stunning piece of body design and engineering

D,
Thanks for the GT40 pics. Every time I see the road version, I just get dizzy and weak in the knees. If only I'd have been born filthy rich, I'd have one. But since I wasn't, and I'll never win the lottery, modeling is about the only way I'll ever own one.

As a reminder to all of the GB's enlistees, this thread will be shut down right before the GB starts, and I'll have opened the official Ford GB Build Thread in the Car forum.

Like all of you, I can't wait to start my build, as I had more then enough down time.

Hi guys,

I seem to have been caught up by the energy being generated by this GB! I went on line and found a “Motorsport Mustang IMSA Racer” Kit - it’s an old monogram kit - if this is an ok subject, I’m in!

Nick,
I'm building the Revell 1/25 scale 1985ish Roush SCCA Trans Am Mustang, which is also a Silhouette Mustang racer. The Monogram kit meets all the criteria for the GB, so go for it.

Hi Joel - cool, thanks. The kit has the white body with Ford blue stripes, logos and the words “Ford” and “Zakspeed” stamped in the head. Looks like an interesting build with plenty of opportunities to add or enhance parts/details. For now, I’m finishing a Toyota TS 020 One - October is just around the corner!

"T-minus 1 day and counting" is a double-dose of workhorses from 1965, the Ranchero for Luciano,

and the F-100 for Mike (apologies, couldn't find many Service Truck images so I just took a random sample).

I've changed my kit to Revell's Ford GT Le Mans 2017. The Cyclone (Nascar) was lacking in the blue oval department. But this should be OK:

I'll post proper start picture once the GB starts.

Pasi,
It's perfect. Not an easy build as the fit of the multi piece body needs a lot of TLC so all of the panels line up, as well as when the shell gets attached to the chassis.

Chip Ganassi ran the official Ford GT team from conception through the end of the 2019 season. Ford is supposed to be pulling it's direct sponsorship after the season is over, and was considering a new DPI prototype car for the 2020 season, but now will be waiting till the new rules package for 2022, when the DPI cars will all be Hybrids. There are a few privateers running in IMSA's GTLM class, so us Ford guys will still have the GTs to root for.

Great pictures again D.

Those two service body ones would look great as lifted 4WDs and in use as desert racing chase trucks.

Haha! If I claim I'm a Romanian, I can start earlier; and if I pretend I'm a Caribbean I can finish later. Phew! I "steal" a full seven hours time!

BTW, my Mustang build is done and I'm doing the latest check-ups before Ford GB!

Yep, I need all the help I can get!

Henry was born in Michigan, so maybe we should coordinate the start/finish timer around that time zone?

Honestly, I am more concerned with watching this group of builds take shape than a couple of hours here and there.

D & Gabriel,
Opening the official thread a wee bit early isn't a big deal over the course of 6 months, but I was always a stickler for finishing on time. If there's a honest issue for needing a little more time, I'll handle that on a one to one basis. I'm sure that we all realize that this is a hobby, and family, home, & work comes 1st.

We were just teasing, Joel. My entry to Ford GB it's going to be my entry in TCC as well, and therefore it has to be finished a month before the GB

Getting in a couple of hours early once again!

For the final inspirational images, "T minus 1 day and counting" , I really couldn't go anywhere but waaaaaaaaay back almost to the point where it all started.

With thanks to Jonathan, here is the 1915 Ford Model T

The time has come! Joel has opened up the official Blue Oval Group Build Thread and we can all dive in to our respective builds.

This thread will be locked shortly, but it has been a brilliant lead-up to the Group Build with plenty of information and inspiration and lively discussion, we are very grateful to all contributors.

Best of luck to everybody with your builds, this promises to be a lot of fun!

Cheers, D
