Gabriel,
I've been waiting till I actually got a little more done.

Just primed the body, both wings, and some smaller parts. Still need to wipe them down with Iso for a quick picture session, and then a rather long paint session. Today was out of the question as the weather has been horrendous. Heavy rain and winds up to nearly 70 miles per hour.

I need to open my modeling room's window so I can secure the vent from my spray booth via the window. But the wind and rain naturally is blowing straight at the window since 6am this morning with no let up any time soon. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Joel

Whenever you're ready, Joel!
Yes, the weather was weird of late, and the hurricane season was tagged as an "active" one this year. Oh, well, I should do my modelling now LOL

PIT STOP

Time for the first pit stop! Checking out the performances, and get some hard numbers feed-back.

Participating entries list and new entries
The number of entries raised now to 23, with three more announced, ready to join in any moment. Last four entries are from Germany - 1, Czech Republic - 2 and USA - 1. Here's the tables:

Entries by countries
Romania has the slightest lead with 7 entries, followed by Canada with 6, but most probably the situation it's going to change until the next pit-stop:

Kit Manufacturers
Here the situation is very complex. However, if would be to count together the AMT and Revell branches, these two companies are numerically leading with 7, respectively 6 entries each:

Scales
Massive domination here from 1/24th and 1/25th scales, but more 1/20th are expected to join. However, not enough to overturn the tables:

Participating categories
Here the situation it's very clear - the huge majority for category 2.1.1. (Models without excessive weathering)

Complexity Index
Again, we have here a massive focus in 1.2 area, which will make the Contest even tighter in terms of quality.

Highlights
Our prizes, diplomas and medals reached (finally!) their destinations. Here the picture from Luci Borcan:

One picture speaks a thousand words. Alexandra it's doing a fabulous job on her Porsche Weissach. Doubled by her photographic talent, she takes fantastic pictures as well. This particular one had more than 500 reactions in various online media, and the count continues...

She used here Alclad Candy Blue over homebrew gunmetal base, topped with 4 coats of GX-100: two medium coats, two wet coats, thru 0.35mm Ginza AB @ 20psi

Misfortune for Radu
The first coat of primer failed Radu. First time I heard of Mr. Surfacer 1200 failing on plastic, but there's the evidence...

The primer coat just peeled off as a bad acrylic paint. We're still guessing the cause. However, Radu bounced back stronger and he's back on track now.

That's for now, folks, from this exciting second TCC edition.

Fourth lap
As the race it's settling in, the agitation at the pits is calming down. Only two new entries, just enough to replace the two racers that finished this week.

New (re-)entries

From position 24th on the grid, Bogdan Grecu from Ireland joins with (hard to believe) another NASCAR! We have a full league now!

Position 25th on the grid is taken by Alexandra Pasca from Romania with a 2010 Camaro by Revell.

Here are the current tables:

Highlights
Two entries have finished the race, and I have a feeling that you know them already all too well:

A few other builds are closing to the finish line as well, with just anticipated.

Unfortunately, misfortune struck for Theo Lazar which damaged his decals on the Pontiac Hot Wheels, and now he's back to primer and sourcing decals. However, his other entry it's coming close, one clear coat away from finish. Very advanced are also builds from Alexandra, Bogdan Grecu and Michael Keogh and we should expect more finished during next lap...

6TH LAP

New entries
Only one new entry - what was to be expected with the race setting the pace: From Italy, Marian Rusu enters with a superb livery Mercedes:

The current entry table looks like that now:

Hard Data

Entries by countries:

Entries by category:

Entries by Complexity index:

Entries by manufacturer:

Entries by scale:

Highlights

Vignette - one of the few entries in the Vignette and diorama section, having the layout laid down:

Penalty time Theo Lazar had a hard time when took the paint can for clear spray and prayed by mistake the body of his NASCAR with blue paint over decals. Now he's serving penalty time in the pit lane, with the build back to bare plastic:

Candy Girl - Alexandra it's in her way of candying the world Yet another brilliant base coat on her Camaro entry:

The excellent progress reports continue to come through on so many builds there Gabriel, it's hard to keep up with them all!

Alexandra really has nailed the candy coat on that Camaro, it looks amazing!

Thanks, Damian! FB has a very good feature - tagging. By selecting the tag, you can see the posts related to one specific build only. It's quite handy when you want to follow the particular progress of one specific build from all the other posts.
Yes, ALexandra it's our most talented "youngster". She's still learning but she's made huge progress in one year and one month since she first touched an airbrush

Yes, I use it frequently. It is very useful to find a specific post when I am looking for a tip or tool or technique that I recalled from a particular person. I also use it to remind myself of what I have posted so I don't repeat myself.

Thanks, D.! The quality for sure it's up and the number of entries virtually tripled by report with the first edition. I'm guessing we're on the right path.

UPDATE
One more lap and... more excitement.
Three more entries this week, which is surprisingly good for this stage of the competition:

Entry 20-27
Shaun Virden from US joins with a 1969 Chevelle SS:

Entry 20-28
This entry is well known to you by now This entry brings the possibility of creating a separate category for open wheelers and motorcycles. The category it's one entry short, as it stands now.

Entry 20-29
This is a second entry from Germany, from the young and ambitious modeller Florin Bogdan Stramciuc

He announced that this build it's going to be a street burner, with a custom paint job, not in the Tom's livery.

Here's the complete stats for the new entries:

Highlights Lap 7
Michael Keogh from US had some problems with the kit's decals and designed his own, printed by IndyCals. The paint it is also custom mixed synthetic automotive enamel. All in all, the livery it's stunning!

Alexandra Pasca from Romania just cannot find the brake pedal. She's nearly finished with all of her three entries. Here's her Porsche Weissach just before the final grooming:

The pace of the contest keeps high, with more progress from Theo Lazar from Canada and Bogdan Grecu from Ireland, as well as from Marian Rusu from Italy and Damian Reg Rigby from Australia! WOW!

Until next week,
Gabriel

Lap Eight

As expected, no new entries for this week, but things happen, and they happen fast.

HIGHLIGHTS

Three finished projects will raise the total of finished builds to 5 out of 29, not bad for 2 months of contest only.

Bogdan Florin Stramciuc from Germany finished his Subaru Impreza WRX STI widebody:

Francois Beaulieu from Canada finished his Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR #48

Alexandra Pasca from Romania finished her second entry, the Porsche Weissach package, beautifully photographed near Arch of Triumph in Bucharest:

Though luck for Michael Keogh from US, whose black enamel reacted badly with the clear coat. That mush have been painful, since the paints and decals were customly made:

On the other hand, the same Michael had better luck with the IMSA Mustang:

Quite nice week after all!

LAP NINE
As expected, the race it is settling now and the progress slowed considerably. No new entries in this last week.

HIGHLIGHTS
Damian Rigby from Australia makes steady progress with his Chevy and shows excellent technique wits metallics and candy paints:

Theo Lazar from Canada has his second try on his Hot Wheels Pontiac. The interior and the engine compartment flamboyantly finished:

The exterior was re-primed and re-sprayed:
