Lon, if Meng can't put it in a military context I don't think they'll release it. Their Ford F350 was kind of a shock to the auto modeling world, but it is a scaled up version of their 1/35 kit that is geared towards the military crowd. Let's face it, in the modeling world 1/35 military models are where the money is at. Kitmaker is a perfect example of this. Just look a the posts & members over on Armorama compared to anywhere else on the network.

Jim,
Armor modeling is certainly number 1 here, with aircraft of all types a strong 2nd. But on many sites it's the exact opposite. I guess it all depends on what the focus of the site originally was. I've been to dozens of IMPS Regionals and a few Nationals, and it sure looked like it's almost 50/50 within the military community.

Car modeling had its glory days in the 1960s when AMT and MPC were just knocking out kit after kit, but by the 1970s things just changed. Military modeling became the main stay of plastics, and it's basically has stayed that way since.

Cars have come back in a stronger position then ever before with the same companies that mold military models to the same standards, and there's now many strictly car kit manufactures kitting some fantastic cars.

The F-350 and Hummer H1 by them have military-ish ties, but their Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon 2 Door does not. It was a real surprise when it was released, especially not being a JKU 4 door.

What David said - that Rubicon is civilian all the way. I'd love to see them keep up the 'military contractor' vibe they have with the H1 and the F350 and give us a current-model Suburban and/or Blazer, in either 1/24 or 1/35.
