Thanks Joel, but...

Hoping to see if i could get to the, "... after 4 hours get medical attention..." stage i did a quick mock up of chassis, body and tires. I was starting to feel all squishy when i noted the missing body panels.

IFSM (In Field Styling Modification), extra cooling air intake. You can quote me on that one Marc 😎

Actually, that panel might look good in black!

It's gotta be added 1 way or the other and if it has to be painted may as well so it right. I am just pissed off. As soon as I did the mock up i glanced over at the sprues and saw the 2 parts. My language wold have made a sailor blush.

No biggie. An extra CBD gummy and all will be fine

Marc,
Boy do I feel your pain and frustration. And like D said, I've also gone that route way more times then I care to admit with all sorts of parts. Some I could add, and a few I couldn't. I've got complete confidence in your abilities to add it to the build and in the right color.

When I did the 1st GT I didn’t like the tiny grates that were decals on clear plates parts. Had the idea to use pipe screens. Darken by getting them red hot a copy of times. Mobetta.

Paintjob looks great Marc. Bummer about the body panels, but I'm sure you'll get it back on track in no time.

clever use of the pipe screens. Will make a note of that one.

The screening is perfect. Glad that I thought of it

Don't want to take credit for an original thought Did that idea get into my from you? At my age you get excited when you think you had an idea.

Marc,
Sorry if my little pun led you to believe that it was my idea. Actually, I have very few original ideas, but "borrow" them from fellow modelers. I actually thought that it was your idea

Done. Well, as done as it’s getting. Not happy with the way it turned out. Got to the point that when something happened that needed to be fixed, 2 more things went wrong. This could have easily turned into a build to last a lifetime.

After getting the shell to near perfect gloss, there are lots areas that no longer hold up to close scrutiny. After countless test fist and mock ups, when the time came to get body and chassis to meet there is something preventing them from seating and there is a gap I can’t figure out how to fix… not for a lack of trying.

So, like my days of RC “stand off scale” if ya don’t get too close its…well… better than smashing it against the wall.

Hi Marc,

I’ve got to say, I sure like the looks of your GT! Came together looking the part.

Sorry to hear about the last minute surprises - various fit and finish headaches. As I read your post I think I understand and agree with what you’re saying - you could spend a long time fooling around with and adjusting this or that, or, go on to the next project!

With that said, I’m looking forward to seeing your next build!

Cheers
Nick

Marc,
You're being way to hard on yourself. From what I can see in those finished pictures, you did one heck of a job. She really looks the part.

I'd say your build is one of the best I've seen to date.

Appreciate the comments and kind thoughts guys. The view from a distance it’s not as bad as it sounds but when ya get close in… like a judge 😉, this is one of the ones that is put out of contention in the 1st cursory glance. But… always a but… I am not unhappy how it looks with its red brother.

Now it's time for something with 16 wheels... and tracks... and a gun that can take out a GT at 1000 yards on the roll. But I'll be back with part 3 of the GT Trilogy.

Enjoy your armor build. You earned it for sure. Looking forward to the 3rd leg of the trilogy.

This has been a great thread to follow, and you turned out a very nice finished product. I'm sorry to hear about the problems in the home straight, but as you said, time to move on to the next project and put this one on display.

Looking forward to Episode 3 now mate.

Cheers, D

Marc, I can only second what others have said before me.

That's one of the best GT's I've seen around and the two together are most impressive.

Looking forward to episode III

PS. It appears Photobucket have removed your images???

Sure hope it's a Photobucket issue, and you're pictures are all still there.
