Hi Jesper and Damian
Thanks for tuning in and the kind comments.
You can apply Goldfinger (or Rub 'n Buff) with anything you like, from a soft cloth or Q-Tip, down to a brush, depending on the area you're trying to cover and the detail required. I used a brush.
It's well worth having a tube handy, but there are definitely pros and cons to using it. I went for it because I'm notoriously bad at brush-painting metallic paints evenly (I always use an airbrush). If you can do that - stick with what you're doing!
Goldfinger covers and polishes evenly and brilliantly - but it's also easily damaged. I've got the worst possible scenario here, applying it over half-cured oil paint weathering; look at it too hard at the moment and it needs a repair.
So, I'm not out of the woods - but I thing the result should look reasonable.
All the best
Rowan

Hi again
@ Damian - sorry, I didn't spot your question about the "caps" on the ignition cables. I just used drops of Gator's glue. It wouldn't win any prizes, but it's very quick and looks reasonable to me.
Anyway, I've had another tinker today and got the engine pretty much "done" (I need to tie the weathering together in a few places and dull down the Ford logos):
In case anyone is inspired to go overboard adding more detail (I'm sure there's loads I've missed), do be warned that a lot will be hidden as soon as you add the firewall and air cleaner. Plus, of course, the body shell will also get in the way a bit:
I'm looking forward to getting to the interior and starting to play with Bare-Metal foil.
All the best

But you've had fun doing it, and there's always this photographic evidence!
Very nice neat work Rowan, looking great!

Cheers Damian
It's proving a thoroughly enjoyable build - and the key thing for me is that I'm learning new stuff at every step of the way, because it offers subtly different challenges to my usual diet of aircraft modelling. It's really refreshing to work on something outside my comfort zone.
I don't have any fresh pics to show, but I've attached the chassis to the body pan, so it really is time to start playing about with the interior. Again, it's got me thinking "outside the box" (for me at least) as to how I'll give a bit of character to that "luxury" vinyl upholstery.

Excellent Work Rowan. Great to see some weathering, a process not seen that often, on the shiny side.
