Thanks Joel, i will wait a few days before spraying the white i want to wait for the green to be 100% cured i don't want finger prints or tape marks. While the paint is curing i will start work on the engine.

Nice colour choice Robert, looking good. This is the fist time I have noticed a two-tone with the colour change half way down the A and B pillars, I like that idea. I'm sure it is a standard thing on 1:1 cars, it has just escaped my notice

Cheers, D

Damian to tell you the truth i have never noticed the way i have it painted either, i just went along with the instructions or as close as i could get to them.I think it should still look pretty good after the white and the chrome foil goes on.

Small update, time for some engine work. The first pic i primed the engine with Tamiya xf-19 sky gray and the color coat is Tamiya x-28 park green gloss, both sprayed with my air brush.

Robert,
The base Green engine coat really has an excellent gloss finish. I'm looking forward to how the Big Block turns out once detailed painted.

Great choice, of color Robert. 1950's US cars and two paintjobs go together like gin & tonic

Another update, no engine details yet just a lot more parts added. Oil filter is Ford engine light blue from testors, the fan belt is Tamiya flat black fan, pullies, starter, generator, are Tamiya semi gloss black.
The distibutor did not fit good so i tried to mod it and drill it for it's plug wires but it just to small and my hands are not to steady any more, so i got a magneto from my stash drilled and cut it down for the plug wires that should work. All comments welcome.

Robert,
Outstanding paint detailing

Believe me I feel your pain about not being able to drill out a distributor cap in these scales any more. So I use one big hole (like the one in my head according to my wife ). Not the greatest but it does the job. David's (Dionx66) source for detail parts is Teds's Detail parts including pre-wired distributor caps. I've been to his site and was super impressed with what he carries. He actually has everything that I need.

Looking great Robert. Looks like it will be a real "busy" engine with the wiring, plumbing, etc. Nice work. Cannot wait to see more.

Thanks Damian, Joel and David. The engine has already bin drilled for fuel lines and plug wires, it comes with 2 nice chrome air cleaners but i may make my own on my unimat lathe, that should be a fun project.

Pass time for an update, had to wait for supplies from ebay and model car garage. Added fuel lines, fuel filter and dipstick tube, i am pretty happy with the details so far, didn't really think i would still be able to do them.
I am going try one more time to remake the distributor for the plug wires. All comments welcome.

Robert,
I'm really impressed with your engine detailing to date. Looking forward to seeing how you deal with the distributor cap and add those 9 wires.

Your fuel line from the mechanical fuel pump to the fuel filter to the twin 4 barrel carbs really is quite nicely done. I don't think I've ever seen a model dip stick before. I'm still in awe about how you paint detailed those valve covers. They really look outstanding.

Looking even better now. Quick question, what did you use for the fuel filter? Looks to my eye like it was a resistor or diode.

Interesting guess David, it is a piece of 1/16 styrene rod from ever green, but i have seen people use those before times.

Beautiful detailing on the engine, Robert!
Do you want to trade it for my CC Lee Ferrari engine?

:)

Gabriel,
Now there's a really novel idea. To the best of my very limited knowledge, no one has ever pulled a Ferrari engine out of a Ferrari and put in it's place an American big block V8

Joel, I just had a blast envisioning a Rural Vermonter and a pimp looking Italian Milanese engineer, trying to fit together an F-1 inspired 12 cylinder Ferrari engine on a crusty Ford frame in a miserable October end weather, while trading moonshine for limoncello

Gabriel,
Now that makes a lot more sense, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has actually tried that. Going to do a little checking around and see what I can come up with.

Time for an update, was able to drill out a new cap from 1/8 plastic rod, truth be told it took a few tries, first pic shows the back of the engine and the new distributor installed.

Next few pics show the wires, looms and headers installed. So far i am pretty happy with the details all comments welcome.
