Ahh, this thing's got more decals than an F-4 After 4 decaling sessions, I've got juts less than half the decals on. Only one side done so far, still have to do the other side and the wing.

I love the small black and white Target decal. It looks like it's purely for the driver. Just in case he's forgotten who the main sponsor is!

cheers

On the Porsche, the step sequence is all shot to hell now. Here is the final step, 28.

In reality I am procrastinating about the difficult task of painting by doing these other tasks.

cheers

D,
Looking forward to seeing as many of those 13 in progress builds make it across the finish by the end of the month.

It's been one epic GB for the list and all should be very proud of just how far we've come to date, and just how far we can actually go. I see it as sky's the limit at this point.

Well, I found out one way that model race cars are exactly like real race cars. The tires are an absolute b@#$h to get on the wheels. Two doses of very hot water later, the tires are on the wheels, but I destroyed the Future finish on the tires. Getting down to the wire, re future the tires, get 20 decals onto the tires and another 11 on the body and wing, add the wing, add the mirrors and mount the wheels.

Mark, sorry to hear that you've hit a trouble spot so close to the finish line, but I'm sure that you have the skills to nurse this one home!

I'm looking forward to seeing it on display with all of those 4,000 decals shining brightly!

Thanks again. Decals and windows done:

I did get some fogging because of CA accelerator, but it looks like I can remove it by polishing windscreen from inside. It was worse few minutes before taking this photo. Anyway, clear parts fit perfectly. I'm quite confident there won't be any problems waiting.

Some of the markings are foil stickers. Those look nice, but are very unforgiving: if you don't get them right on first try, they won't stick. So this model has only hood "ornament", but side 204Z's are missing.

Sorry to say I am not going to finish on time!
I am working on the wire wheels when I get a chance but not much time for building.
My entry will be migrating to the garage queen page .
Great builds every one!
Hopefully things will be sorted out by the time the next GB starts.

Phew, I've got ALL the decals on the car and got the wing attached.

I think that there are 17 sponsors and they each got at least 2 decals.

Target got 8, 9 if you include the driver's fire suit. You'll know it's Target, coming,

and going.

Sorry to hear that Richard, but totally understandable. This year has been one of extremes with people either getting a lot more bench time, or none at all. I'm looking forward to seeing your build taking shape further once things calm down for you.

Mark, definitely more decal than paint on the surface of your build there mate. Good to see the last pieces falling into place.

Well that didn't work out the way they intended.

Instead of 4 Firestone and 4 Firehawk decals, there's 8 Firehawk decals. I guess no one will notice as it zips down the straightaway.

Nice work there Mark, closer and closer to the finish line!

I finally got the body repainted and the decals on the Blue Max. Not much left to do now. I hope to be done by the weekend.

And he takes the Checkered Flag!
It's done! Revell's 1/24 Chip Ganassi's Target Reynard.

One of the most detailed builds I think I've ever done.

Shinier finish and more decals than any airplane.

Great build folks. Now I gotta get my Ferrari out of the stash.

"Pasi Ahopelto" completed build of the "Datsun 240Z, Safari Rally winner 1971"

I hope I got the format right

Thanks for the group build. Had fun building the kit, and finally completed a car group build here.

If anyone else is planning to build Hasegawa's 240Z, then it's mostly trouble free build. Only issues were foil stickers (had to get them right on first go), mesh in front of radiator will be undersized if cutting it right along radiator edges (should've checked against template on instructions) and orange clear parts under front bumper don't fit perfectly (check before painting).

Talk about coming home with a wet sail! Awesome stuff Mark and Pasi!

Mark, your Indy CART build came up really nicely considering the issues you had with decals, and it's the only Indy to cross the line in this Group Build! Great job. Now, get that Ferrari out, you've got 3 days left

Pasi, another lone wolf with the only Rally entrant to finish the race!. Lovely work, the paint and decals came up beautifully, and the stance is unmistakably rally all the way.

Mark, you are a braver man than me for tackling that amount of decals.

Pasi, you too, that is a lot of decals. I've always loved the shape of that Datsun.

Great stuff Bill, a beautiful build and considering the extra miles you had to go to refinish after the paint problems, a super effort! The paintwork looks silky smooth and the decals laid down just right, a really striking looking car.

Thanks for joining in and sharing your build, hopefully we can drag you back for more!

The "Blue Max" takes us to 17 completed builds with a couple of days to go. Of the 10 "in-progress" builds, 3 of those are from builders who have already completed at least 1 kit during the Group Build. Great numbers guys, I'm really grateful to everybody for the participation in this one.

P.S. Joel, I'm going to sneak some photos of your Jaegermeister M3 into the Group Build Photo Feature, because it fits the scope, you started and finished it within the time frame, and it's just too cool to leave out! I'm sure we won't get any opposition.

Cheers, D

Three great builds in at the end from Mark, Pasi and Bill covering the full spectrum of strip, track and trail. They all look amazing!

I am certainly not going to make the finish. I have pink on but still a bit of work to do with decals and detailing but it was a great campaign.

cheers

I am going to have to beg off. It seems that between outside garden/lawn work and a sudden loose of interest in model building I know I will not have it finished by Oct 1.
