Having always had a soft spot in my heart for diminutive AFVs the T-20 Komsomoletz, released by Mirror Models earlier this year, was an easy call for first place on the build pile. The kit is superbly reviewed by Robert Blokker, a link to this review is at the end of this text. I don’t really need to add anymore except that it builds up quite easily other than a bit of extra filing on the track links for an easy fit. Lots of small detail parts along with a complete interior and engine, so my advice would be to just take your time and enjoy the build. The kit provides the option of two versions; Model 1937 and 38 early, I went with the original Model 37 version. The only significant change I made was to lengthen the fenders for a true early Soviet vehicle. To do that I used some styrene strip and a bit of patience.
I prefer to add a figure just to give a bit of scale and was fortunate to have an Alpine sculpting hanging about to which I added a Hornet head. The weathering was a combination of pigments, washes, and other ‘product’ (sounds a little like hair care!) to give it a more natural look before it hits the display case.
