Pocher Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4

  • move
The Lamborghini Aventador LP-700-4, now there is a car worthy of a 1:8 scale Pocher kit. This kit is huge, not only in physical size and weight, but also in the fairly high parts count. I knew immediately that this one would take me quite a while to complete, so I’ll run multiple features to chronicle the build. Inventory of the kit can be found in the first-look review Here

I believe Pocher estimates around 40-50 hours build time, although that is straight out of the box. I’m not going to super detail this one, but I will add a few so it will take me considerably longer than that estimate. Many of the parts are pre-painted or molded in color, although most will need to be painted after the seam lines are removed and/or to get a color more pleasing to the individual. The body panels are factory painted, a time saver/stress reliever in that department, and are very well done on this Matte Black version.

Right off the bat I ordered a couple of things for this build from Ebay. Paul Koo is well known in the Pocher model circle for his very informative DVD’s so I picked that up for the Aventador. The DVD contains info on the basic assembly, an extensive extra detailing section, and has tons of reference photos as well as videos and more. I wouldn’t want to build a kit such as this without the DVD. I also ordered a supplemental decal set from Paul, as it contains some corrected decals and provides some that are missing. I’m not a big fan of “home” printed decals but felt these were necessary, and they are very well done.

Enough of that prologue blathering, let’s turn the page and get on with the build!

My main interest is 1/35 scale WWII armor, Axis and Allied, and will occasionally branch out into other areas. The builds I have done so far have been pretty much OOB, and considering what most newer kits include, that is usually more than enough for me. Even though my projects do not always end up ...

Awesome, how did I miss this one when you first posted it? What a superb kit! I must make sure that my 12YO super car nut son doesn't see this. Cheers, D

Gentlemen, you all are too kind. This kit is absolutely gorgeous and it seems I've only made a small dent in the part count. Steadily working on part 2 as time allows:
