Bob the 40 or 32 Ford sounds good to me the other cars you mention are to new, don't know what a JR22 rail car is but it should be street legal or at least look like it.

The 22JR{sorry, had that backwards before}, is a revell twin kit , both being the old front engine type.
I did find my old "the wild ones" '29 woody kit, but she's missing the frame and fenders, headlights and radiator shell...on a plus note it still has the sting ray bike and the surfer with board!

I'm quite keen on building a RR of a complete woodie body I have in my spareparts box, but the only frame I have is from an old Willys jeepster. Don't know if I can fit the frame.

Jesper, yeah, I know...a woody just sounds good, but I may have to stick with my '32 since the '29 body just doesn't seem to fit well over the '32 frame...I coulda sworn you could do that in real life, but not so well in models I guess{maybe I'm thinking '32 to '34s...}.

As for the jeepster frame, if that's like the regular jeep{I'm going by my universal jeep kit}, that would be short out of the box and have a twin spring front axle. I have a spare nomad frame, but I think A arm front suspension might be frowned upon in this build....just doesn't fit the concept.

Bob if you want to use an A arm front suspension with lets say a 32 Ford that's cool it might look a little off but i like that kind of stuff, as long as the main body of the car fits in the time frame of 1920 to 1959, at the very least it would be interesting.

Yeah, they usually are interesting, especially if you add a vette rear end, but I really count those as retro rods.
I just rerechecked the start date for this build...I keep thinking it's jan 1for some reason. I'm writing it down on a postit note this time! This gives me alittle time to hunt what I need for a '29 woody wagon.....

Jesper, just finished a google search on "1929 ratrod"..the usual frame seems to be 2x3 or 2x4 material.......don't know about you, but I'm grabbing the body and making a frame with what I've got....how low can you go!........

Yes Bob you have like 15 days to get stuff collected for this build, i think a 1929 Woody would make a great Rat Rod it should be interesting to see what everybody comes up with for this build, i am set on my 1941 Ford pickup can't wait to get started.

I'm searching around trying to find something to build guys. Unfortunatly my stash is all airplanes and 60's & 70's Mopars. Also, with what I spent at Christmas on models and supplies for the boys, there is a real possibility that I may have to consult a divorce lawyer pretty soon. If I can find something at the LHS under $10.00 you can count me in. Don't have any spare rat rod parts either. Probably end up scratching a bunch of stuff.

Too funny, as I can relate all to well...if it weren't for my wifes huge coke collection I wouldn't have a leg to stand on!
Hobby lobby will have a 40% off coupon coming up, should be next week...if that fails fantastic plastic has some old kits around the $12 mark{sans shipping though}.

Hey fella's,
I went to the LHS today and found that they went out of business. That means I had to go to Walmart. All I could find for this build that would come even close to rat rodable was a Revell '53 Chevy Bel Air 3-n-1 kit. If I could cut off the top and junk it up would that be acceptable for this build? Hope so since I already bought it.

Bob, no dice. Can't use the credit card for a while. seems that it's not magic after all. You actually have to pay for that stuff eventually. Who'd a thunk it?

Hermon that 53 Chevy is perfect for this build, does that kit come with the 6 cyclinder engine because that would also work great for a rat rod.

Robert, it's got the ole 6 banger. And it's a 3 in one kit so it has headers and tri-carbs as an option. I can also drop the front end or the whole car. Thinking about going with the drop front and chopping off the roof. I also have plenty of sprue laying around so it may get a redneck roll cage as well.

Yeah, tell me about it Bob.
I was in there 2 weeks ago getting the boys some stuff for Christmas. Then this past Friday everything was almost gone in the store and the owner said he was moving. I said "where ya moving to?" and he said "Ohio". Sheeez.....thats like a 400 mile trip for me just to get paint. So, here in Asheville were down to on LHS which tacks on like 80% on every kit.......or we have to go to Wal-Mart. Helluva time to have a maxed out credit card.

That really sucks your LHS closing and moving, so far i have been lucky i have 3 local hobby stores with in 20 minutes from my house a Walmart and Michael's, but the owner of one hobby store that i have been shopping at for about 20 years is in his 70's so i think he will be closing soon and one other shop has been getting more into trains and the other RC cars i think they can make a lot more money off that stuff, I am shore i will have to start shopping on the internet very soon.

Call me nuts, but I'm shooting for doing two cars. Got my '32 ford all planned out and the '29 woody with the work the body needs. I did finish my tube flaring devise today at work...I can do nice 45 degree flares in 1/8th tubing now....you'll see. I look forward to this since these will be the 1st regular cars I've built since I was a kid.{the chapparal doesn't count - race car!}

Hey, how many people do we have on board for this shindig now? Just curious. I tried to find it under group builds to officially register but didn't find it.

I don't believe it is official, but rather an informal group build. Robert would be the best one to clarify, since it's his baby.

Bob i believe we only have 6 people ready to build which is more than i thought we would get. The build is not official so don't bother to look for any place to sign up, on the 15th just start building and posting pics.
