My contri for the campaign is an older kit from Revell Germany.
Kit nr. 07556 that was on the shelf around 1995.
A little over 380 parts.
Quiet a lot of detail on truck and trailer.
A total lenght over 60 cm.

Going to be a beasty build. Is the truck the Aussie one. Or American one?

Per the box, I see it's the aussie version{roo bar and front mud flaps} but as dave said, are you going to make her the aussie version or american...or do just have to wait and see?
BTW- Nice kit...tried to aquire that one here on ebay but it always got too high{$$$} for my liking....just like the big pete wrecker always does.
Does the front of the kit trailer frame have the side chutes so the straight truck can dump while towing?

As Bob replyed, it's the Aussie one.
I'm going to build it OOB so no changes to an American one.
The front trailer does not have side chutes, so no dumping while towing.

The aussie version is great...looks really rugged, but ya can't beat the clean lines of the old american KWs...of course- your build, your call...she'll look good either way!
Per the trailer being a non chute frame version- I thought that kit was but I may be thinking of a resin kit that has it. What a hassle having to disconnect to dump the front....probably why the american equivelent were center dumps and didn't need to be unhooked to dump both. Well, enough yacking, I'll let you get to work and I need to as well{after I mow the grass}.

I think this type of trailer is actually called a Pup. A Dog trailer has steering front wheels.
I've been told they are called that because a Dog Trailer will follow you around obediently while a Pup trailer dances around all over the place!

No doubt some of you truckers will be able to confirm or deny that one.

So I started building and discovered that you have to read the instructions carefully.
The chassis was nearly complete and painted, then find out on step 16 that I must cut a few things away.
Why in step 16 and not on step 1 or 2?

Oops. I had another look at the box. Not a dog trailer but I've known these as pig trailers.

Tipper and Dog, Tipper and Pig, or Tipper and Pup? Either way, it could be an interesting conversation starter for Erik.

Looking pretty good. I think those things you cut off were the sleeper mounts. It looks like Revell just used the Kenworth T900 kit for this, and that has the 60" sleeper. Is the sleeper in the box? Wouldn't be suprised.

But I don't think I'm going to put a lot of work in the engine.
95% of the time the hood will be closed.

Ok. The chassis is painted again. The engine is 90% done.
Still have to put some detail to chassis and engine, then I can call theme finished.
Photo's follow tomorrow, because in Belgium it's already to dark to take some nice picture in daylight.
I don't like taking them with a flash.

Last week, every day I build a little bit on the truck.
Every evening a little and at the end of the week you find out, hé I build a lot without taking pictures.
Shame on me.
The chassis is nearly finished.
The engine is put in place
Started with the subframe, the one that carries the dumper.
And with the dumper I also started.
I try to follow the buildinginstructions, but sometimes I forget and go my way.

Slowly the build goes on.
There is a rolling chassis on my workbench.
10 wheels, an engine and some chrome.
Decals in place, mudflaps and gastank are fitted.

Hé Damian, thanks. The paint is "Revell Aqua", in most shops in my neighbourhood for sale. And I like to work with it.




Just followed the building instructions. I also have an other Kenworth in my stash and the engine must also be painted silver. Maybe Revell is wrong and use the colors of modern engines? (The kit is from 1995, modern then)

Now I'm not a 100% sure but one thing I do know is that a lot of these model company's do get a lot of their information mixed up like to when they had a big V8 cat engine and then they went to describe a 95-13 transmission to which that big engine would tear up that 9500-13, now to what I figure they done was hear about a 9513 transmission but had no idea what it meant but my old Kenworth I had with a small cam 350 Cummins in it and it had a 95-13 transmission because that was the normal for small engines to have a light weight transmission.

Now when you have a bunch more horse power on your engine then the transmission you have has to have a higher number of torque rating to withstand all the torque of the engine because that 95 meant it only has 9500 torque rating now I don't remember all the higher numbers and unless I get out my paper work I couldn't even tell you the torque rating on my Mack 13 speed transmission right now but the only engine I ever seen silver were them 8 V 92 series Detroits they called them the silver 92's and before they went silver they were the same old green color even the newer straight 6 Detroits went back to a off green that almost looked gray and the only colors I have ever seen on Caterpillars was that white on the old 1693 6 and 8 cylinders then the off yellow on the 3406 & 3408 and they stayed this way through the A,B,and C to what all I seen of them until I left the road in 2000.

Now unless you call a Kenworth or Peterbuilt truck dealer and ask if they know if Caterpillar ever had any other colors beside white or yellow because they would be your best kind of information.
