There was an Air-Cooled campaign about two years ago or so (before I got into the campaigns here), and that's basically a subset of German cars. That may have taken some of the kits that would have been built here.
It's worth going back to look at that campaign and how popular it was.
For me, I was in Las Vegas last week and saw this at the Imperial Palace Collections...
VWcamperAtIP-20110812-1455.jpg
Although, I admit the first thought when I was scrolling through all the Armorama and Aeroscale messages and saw this one was a giant Mercedes WWII 6-wheel command car. There is certainly no shortage of cars-- is there a Kharmann Ghia kit out there-- or is that too Italian?
don't mind my rambling!
thanks,
Sean.

Edit: I just took my own advice and checked the Auto Modeler campaigns and gallery-- Air Cooled ran in late 2009, 9 enlisted, and only Harv posted final photos in the gallery here: http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/25212

Yeah, unfortunately the campaign's on Automodeler aren't as popular as on other kitmaker sites.

About the Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia there's one made by tamiya

http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/89652volkswagen/index.htm

in-stock in one of my favorite online stores

Sent you pm .

Anyway i have 3 models that are german: Tamiya Porsche 911Gt2,Tamiya BMW 635i and Revell's premium Merc 560.

Im leaning towards one of the tamiya's because there's a lot of work to be done on the Merc to have it looking the way i would like.

ps.How many of us are needed to start a GB here? Hope it's not 12.

Kind regards,Sven.

Is this build a go? Not that I would build one, but Jaguar is now owned by BMW, would that count as a German car?

I'm interested in joining when it starts...

Thanks, Richard, but I prefer 1:25. I'll accept as large as 1:24!
Well, now we're 5. Is that a full Auto Modeler campaign?
cheers!

I dare you to find a kit of a Skoda car that indeed has German roots.. most are pre WW2, and are completely Czech

I had some time on my hands so I thought up a ribbon for the campaign (or is a build??). Just a suggestion, no worries if something else wants to be used...

I thought it might be easier to have a few logos and not all. The logos I think are missing are Opel, Porsche and Volkswagen. I could add any or all of them, but as a ribbon is rather small it could look mucky.

No I am not referring to the fact Skoda is an original German make, it is the same way as Jaguar is, represented by a German owner, in this case VW

My first car was a 1974 VW Super Beetle, and I got a kit to make it like 15 years ago that has just been collecting dust.

It'll be good to have an excuse to break it out, so let's do this!

Using the German flag as a basis (as inspired by Brian), what about something like this as a ribbon:

I think the previously proposed one, as nice and as representative as it is, will likely not display well at 50x20 pixels.

Open to further modifications or just plain getting shot down in flames

Yeah, that was my thought too, but I am laid up after some surgery and don't have a modelling area yet, so I thought I would play around a little...

This is the ribbon size badge:

No, it didn't work out too well...
