Hallo,

First, let me introduce myself.
I'm Robert Jan, 45 years, still living in The Netherlands.
Modelling all my life, with several interests and not scale related I felt the urge to show you all my Heller 1/16 Citroën DS 19.
Story so far is one of history. I got the kit some 15 years a go. Started the building process, did lots as in between modelling, trains and tramways and now she back on my table.
Next i will have to find out how to post some pictures.
See you next time.

Greetz,

Robert Jan

Hello everyone,

Indeed I'm allways having problems with my computer. I'm getting lost in stupid things I sometimes overlook, which is frustrating. But I wonder if these links works, if so you'll see my project.

If not, I sure do need some help for uploading foto & film.

Ok, it seems to work from my computer.
I'm working on the base now. Setting is a small cottage in France. Car is still not ready. Concentrating on the details there are lots of small bits and pieces I discover everytime.
Contacting my brother is needed to succeed in working on the model. He's the expert. This weekend I'm going to visit my mother. In the garage there's a 1967 DS23. It helps a bit, but has a different nose, motor, but measurements are simular.
Material I'm working with is foam, cork, a compilation of several metal foils and sheets. Very often just leftovers from other projects I worked on in the past.
For now this is it. Wish you all a very good weekend.

greetz,

Robert Jan

I'm back with some pics.
In order to give it a very wornout effect, I first had to study on how to make this. Reading, watching and most of the time just giving it a try to me is the best way to work. Just like other modelers my stock of interesting materials, parst & pieces is still the best base to start with.
Sometimes it is rather a slow process, but when I know how to do it, when the story comes alive it is a rush.
Some pics from the DS19.

When you have comments, questions or whatever, please let me know. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Greetz,

Robert Jan

Hi Jesper.
Seats were my first project on re-building the DS. I started to cut the layout for the seat from black Tab-sheet. It's original surface 'feels' and looks like leather. Give the cut from the sheet some extra mm. and just glue it on the seat with CA.
After it is attached you can make little cuts to the new surface, open them, fold them as you wish. The rough and wornout effect can be made with paint and washes.
For some more pictures I have to make a selection. I'm working on it and it will be posted later today.

Bye for now,

Robert Jan

Just a selection. How can I bring pictures up to screen size?
Still can't find the right thing to do so.
In the meanwhile, enjoy en be free to comment and asking questions.

Bye for now,

Robert Jan

Hi all,

Big thing I was worried about simply happens. My base turned out to be a hoolahoop. So major restoring activity was done today. Yesterday I made a small gate out of coffee sticks.
Also I have decided that a complete interiour will come behind.
So the corners of the great wall with the doors will have a thick plastic structure behind. Next I will do a paintjob to settle the scene in harmony.

Hope you enjoy my project. Progress of my work and new pics will follow soon.

Hello everybody, time for a small update. Buildingprocess so far is one of stripping the build bodywork. To get some real detail I took all magazines I could find about Citroëns. Also Citroënforums are a big help and don't forget my brother.
Home, at my parents, we had a 5 years of restoration on 1967 DS. A total new build up from almost nothing. I sometimes remember my father, asking himself why are we doing this. So my motivation making this diorama is that he managed to get the lady in a concours state again, just before he died some 4 ago.
Back to the lady on my workbench. Not satisfied with the state she was in, I did some work on the backside of the car.
Removed the static wheelsuspension in order to make it work.
Also took out the left backside of the car. In realtime to be removed if you want to change a flat tire.
It needs some work to bring it back in shape.
Pictures show what I have been doing the rest of the week.

Hope you enjoy this adventure in building.

Thank you Ko Sprue One.
Maybe you can help me out. I want to show some larger images in this thread, the way you do for example. I can't find the tool to do so.
Worked on the rear suspension and breakingsystem of the Citroën.
It is a unique system, so some detail must be part of the show.

Back to the car.

Have a nice weekend.

ok, in your gallery, click on the image you want to post.

Then click on the image icon (an image with the chain link over/ under it). This is to the right of the code titled, Linked Thumbnail:.

Use the new code which then appears under by copy and paste into your reply post.

This should work

A little test, to see if it works.

Edit, it works. Don't know the brandname for these ones, because the rubbers are missing.

Hi Pete.
It seems my reply got removed from the campaign proposal you're hosting. You still can count me in, no doubt. And a yes, it will be even more of this rust and scrap. Busy on this one to get a finish. Found some interesting kits on Ebay that will do the job.

Stay tuned to the rusty scrap thread.
