Back on modeling again.
Found a pretty kit on the net and simply had to buy it.
Did this type in 1/20 way back when, also from Protar.
First thing I'm going to do is some research on details.
Colours is a puzzle building Protar kits, so reference is needed from books, internet and maybe you guys have advices.
Kit is brand new and looks pretty well moulded.
For aftermarket I have to investigate on similar parts from other brands.
But I think self made and upgrading will do the job.
Pictures will come of course. See what my IPhone provides.

Hi all,
Had some problems with the iPhone, but I found out how to get the picture in to my gallery.
Look at the nice box. Just a few wrinkles on the edges.

More to come.

The Protar car and motorbike kits are great. Good detail and lots of it. Just be careful with the suspension, especially when attaching the wheels, as it can be a bot fragile.

As from a kid I wanted this kit. It suddenly pops up 2 weeks ago.
Looking for references now.
Ordered another one this afternoon also. Senna's Lotus 97. First victory car from the Portugal grand prix.
Let the race begin.

There's a 1/12 Ferrari 312 T3 on fleabay UK at the moment - £249 buy now. I really like the Protar kits, but all my F1 cars are Tamiya 1/20 scale, and Protar only did 1/24 & 1/12.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of this one.

Promissing it is. I made a start today with the engine. I'm happy with the fitting. Did some Tamiya 1/12 before and in detail Protar matches those very well. Plastic is the quality like the Heller kit I build last year.
Pictures will come on Monday.

Hi all,
The works so far. The 6 cylinder turbo gets body. Nice in detail, however no kit goes without some work on seems and moulding failures, it is a pleasure to build.

All is dry fitted, except for de cylinder block itself.

Some detail added on the battery.

Hi all,
Research on the internet gives a total different view on building the Ferrari 126 C2. Racing in the old days was so much different from today. Multi adjustments on engines makes a modellers heaven or hell.
My car will be the one from the 1982 Belgian Grand prix.
Found a pretty build for the engine 1/8 scale on the net.
So changes were made to the basic Protar engine.

Some adjustments:

And a dry fit of the parts:

In progress are exhaust pipes and turbos.

Thanks James.
The more I look on the net, the more challenging the kit gets.
Starting with the engine seems to be the key for this build. A lot of detail to build from scratch. I love that.

Some progress on the engine. Added some detail to exhaust pipes and changed little bits in detail like screws.

Tanks. Started adding some paint. After a little misfortune in buying it online I found it just around the corner. One of the surprises in Thailand. Future Park! All Tamiya and Gunze Mr. Color & Mr. Metal.
Updates next week.

Hi all,
I updated my photo bucket with recent additional details on the engine for the Ferrari 126 C2.
I ordered wires, tubes and some very tiny screws and bolts.
Also scratch works with gold-plated connectors. I made the fuses on scale with correct thickness for the cables. More scratch work is on the way. Almost finished the brakes and I'm working on the cooling for the monster from the eighties.
All comes slowly in Thailand. Because of the weather and the distance. Got some real trouble with customs as I had to pick up my MFH kit for the Lotus 97. Kit is also on the way. I will start a new topic on that one, because that is really huge in detail.
Mean while, check out the bucket.
Hope you enjoy.

I hope it doesn't bother you followers when I don't post my pictures directly to the blog. I'm just making high resolution pictures to show as much as possible details.

Thanks.
The more I look at the reference material I searched for on the net, the more I want to change. I'm planning to connect the engine to the monocoque to get the right fit of all the tubing that comes from the radiators.
Think I redo them all. MFH 1/8 scale models are a real inspiration when you want more detail. Have to do a lot from scratch, but that is the fun part.

Hi all.
After a loving weekend of modelling on 2 separate engines but both 6 cylinder turbo charged, I just updated my photo bucket for the build of the Ferrari.
Reworked some of the original kit parts and made them from scrap brass and tubing.
For the other engine, which belongs to the Lotus 97T driven by Ayrton Senna. New topic on this will start this week.

Hi all.
Working on the Ferrari 126 C2.
Little by little the engine is getting closer to the finishing state.
I ordered some extra detail in case of nuts and bolts, which will arrive soon I hope. Same goes for the brake discs. Found some nice ones on the net and ordered. Also come in next week I hope.
Means I have to reconsider the mounting of the rims and air ducts for the front and rear of the car.
My photo bucket is updated with 7 new pictures.
So when interested take a look.

I will continue now on the bodywork for the time being.
Next update will show a lot of detail works I hope.
