Hello people of the world!
I've spent approximately 1 hour in my model room this week which is an unexpected surprise. I was able to finish both interiors for the camaro and cuda.
I also decided to do something else I've never done before and add a vinyl roof. I used the smallest half round styrene I had and carefully measured out the right dimensions and glued it down with Tamiya extra thin cement. I used a pencil to add some color just so it would show up in the photo. I'll sand it down to about half it's current thickness before the primer goes on.

I'm hoping to get the Cuda into primer this weekend. It's going to be a few weeks before I can get the Camaro to this point because of a few badly fitting body pieces. The rear spoiler is a nightmare which has already taken a couple of hours of work with putty and sanding.

Well the box said "Authentic Scale Model" didn't it?

Hermon, your attention to detail is amazing, especially in such a short amount of time at the workbench.
Cheers!

Mark,

Indeed it does say "scale model" on the box.
Sean, I'm like a machine. Well, one that runs badly and is missing a few parts. lol
Chester, don't worry my friend. There is at least another one million hours of work left to do on the Camaro to make it look decent.
Got some GO MANGO orange laid down on the Cuda tonight. I started out with two coats of Tamiya white primer, wet sanded it, then sprayed on 3 coats of body color. When this dries in a couple days I'll sand it down and spray another heavy coat of color. Then I'll mask everything off and spray some satin black for the vinyl roof.

Nice, this one is shaping up really well. As well as can be expected for a . . . Never mind, you all know what I mean!
Great work so far 'Cuda, I really like the look of the vinyl top on cars of this era, and I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

I was gonna wait and do everything slow and make sure it was perfect, but I don't have patience anymore. I went ahead and painted the vinyl top satin black.
NOW.....I'll let everything dry a couple days and start polishing. BTW, to get the grainy vinyl top effect I backed the air pressure down to 5 psi. and held the airbrush about 12 inches away from the surface of the roof. I did 4 mist coats this way and it turned out pretty good.

The gloss coat on the Cuda is taking forever to dry, so while that's going on I decided to lay down a base coat of blue on the Camaro. Once it's dry enough, I'll wet sand and polish it before gloss coating.
I'm going to use the kits black decal stripes for the hood, roof and trunk lid but I'm not going to put the gaudy stripes on the sides.

That looks great! I took note of that and will try that later too.

Nice detail touch with the styrene 'seams' as well

Cool. Also another good tip I found out. I can't really afford to buy those $3.00 per bottle Tamiya and MM paints anymore. I have found that plane old enamle spray paint from the dollar store can be decanted into jars and shot though my air brush. The black on the Cuda roof is actually that dollar store paint. $3.29 get me enough satin black paint to last a couple of years.

Beautiful work my friend. Love the Go mango and black vinyl.
Excellent choice of color for the Cheby. If nothing else, it can at least have a decent color.

Cuda, super cool work my friend. That Camaro is right up there with the most awe-inspiring power-laden beasts we have seen here on Automodeler. I love it.
The Hemi, well, ummmm, meh.
Ok, I felt obliged to say that. Seriously, the effect you have achieved on the vinyl roof looks top notch. I'm really looking forward to the next stage, polishing and top coat.
Keep up the great work.
Cheers, D

Thank you gentlemen for the kind words. Even you Mr. Rigby. I got about an hour in at the bench this evening and decided to put on a few decals on the Cuda. The hockey stick stripes are done as well as the hemicuda decals on the shaker.
I'll finish up all the Cuda decals this week hopefully, then put another couple of coats of gloss over the whole shell. After that it'll be a matter of polishing everything up and putting it all together. The Camaro is still dripping wet from the gloss coats yesterday. Must be some kind of reaction with the paint.

Herman,
I must apologize, my post was to go in the main campaign thread.
Mark,
The 440 exhaust manifolds will not fit the Chevy.
Cheers Rob.

Lookin' good Rob, but then it's a MOPAR so it's always gonna look good.
In other news, Chevy has announced a huge clearance sale on brand new 2015 Camaros'. Many of the best ones can be seen in the photo below behind the GM plant in Hell, waiting for shipment to idiots all over the world.

Anyway Rob, now that you've mastered rust, the Chevy should be a breeze.

Go fast stripes are on the Camaro. I'll add a couple coats of gloss clear over these and then buff one more time.
Hope to get the chrome window trim on both cars this weekend so I can get them wrapped up. Can't afford the BMF, so I'm going to do a cheap trick I picked up on youtube.....regular aluminum foil with white glue.

I have no doubt you can make simple tin foil and white glue look good, Herman! I'll be watching how this goes here.

Isn't that how most Mopar bodies are built in real life?
Very nice work on the mighty Camaro Hermon, looking real sharp mate.
