They say you can’t go back again. However, that’s not entirely true when it comes to modelling! There’s always a chance to take another run at a kit that you might have botched up in your younger years. For me, such a kit is, of course, a loser car! In this case, it’s the MPC 1982 Cavalier!
Sure, you’re thinking that the Cavalier may not be worth re-doing, right? Well, as a car, you might not be wrong on that, but it’s a neat kit of a very important car. The Cavalier nameplate solidered on for a long time, and it’s one of those cars that literally seemed to be everywhere back in the day.
Check out my take on this “New for ‘82” Chevy and tell me what you think. If it makes you remember how bad things got, then I’ve done my job!

Cool build Adam, I love the tone of your BLOG, so easy to read and great info on the kit and the car hidden in between the laughter!
Cheers, D

It would be great if they'd released a European version. Opel/Vauxhall had the Omega/Cavalier in Europe, and although people laughed at them they had an important place in motoring history (along with the Ford Sierra/Mondeo). For many people it was one of the first reliable and well-spec'd family cars and for the sales rep gave him a tool that would go well over 100k before it needed replacing.
Boring maybe, but I had a 1.6l Cavalier when I needed a family car and it had 106k on it when it started using nearly as much oil as petrol; I still have it's successor (Vectra) now.

A European version would be nice, I agree. It's funny how some cars get released only in the North American or European versions, but never both.
My dad had an '89 Ford Escort when I was growing up; it was the first car I ever drove. However, the only kit available is the European version, which is close, but not the same, as the one I drove here in Canada. I'd love a kit of an '89 four-door 'Scort!
