Another finishing touch in progress. The clear red sprue from my '59 Caddy kit donated a section of straight sprue, which I cleaned up with a 2000 grit sanding stick then put a bit of a taper on each end using a pencil sharpener.


A short length was cut off each end with a razor saw, then polished up a bit further.


The 2 lenses were then glued in place using Humbrol Clear parts Cement. Still some tidying up to do to fill the join, but I think they look good. I might put a thin line of chrome paint around the base of each lens once I get the join cleaned up.

Cool innovative way to use old sprue.

I'm very happy to say that I put the final touches on the '36 Rod tonight, it is done!

I filled the gap around the tail lights with Humbrol Clear Parts cement over the last couple of nights by wicking it in using a toothpick, and tonight I applied a 1mm strip of Ultra Bright Chrome BMF around the join. Many thanks to Jesper for the idea, I was originally planning to paint a chrome strip but this was a much better and easier solution.






I will give it a good dust down and get some better photos over the next couple of days.

This one can go on the shelf now and I will get back to the other 2 '36 builds for the trio, then start work on the bases.

Top job, on that hot rod, Damian. the tail lights could easily be taken for original kit parts. Very impressive.

Thanks for the tip to use BMF instead of paint Jesper, it wouldn't look half as good if I had tried to brush a strip of chrome paint instead!
