The wheels look good and that detail is great which lead me to check out KFS which was probably a mistake but I did solve what to build for the trucking campaign next year by buying a Bedford!

Gabriel, thanks! yes, each wheel received a few different shades of silver, well worth it, as you'll see below -

Ahh, Michael - hahaha! KFS is the MFH of trucks! enjoy! The parts they sent me were clean and worked as sold!

OK, right, it was/is a sunny day here with NO smoke or fog! A good day to take a model to the park! (uhh, or in this case, a scale truck model kit! haha)

While not as clunky as the D7R, this is a big model. A challenge was to make it not look like a big plastic toy, so, a variety of subtle details added along the way:



The silver is all Vallejo metal color - In retrospect, should I have used BMF for the radiator cowl and visor? I didn't because I didn't want seams or wrinkles around the compound curves - right or wrong? well - it's done!







Considering how the engine started, I'm pleased with the results - and a few more:



Check out the studs and lugnuts above - nice! And, the Peterbilt logo - the base is an aftermarket etch piece. I lightly flooded it (them) with MIG acrylic crystal red, and worked better than hoped -



And there you have it! done - next up - maybe an F1 -

Outstanding! I love the contrast between the nice clean noisy end and the delicious filth on the business end. It just screams out as a well looked-after but fully utilised work truck.



From my limited experience and what I've seen on line, you could use multiple pieces of BMF and blend the overlaps. Grab a scrap and have a try. I don't know that the visor would be bright chrome, maybe a bit glary.

Brilliant stuff Nick, packed with great fine detail from all angles. Well done getting it completed and huge thanks for sharing so much of the detail during your progress.

Nick, this has come together so well. From the front fenders through to the work area at the back you've done a great job. I love the engine weathering which as Damian says ties in with a well used but cared for workhorse. Also the panels on the rear are very effective with the subtle lines and handles making them look very realistic.
What I think most though is you have a great way of translating reality to scale modelling and that's a rare talent.

Nick, between the better than museum class build and the expert photography the truck looks real. The detail is spot on especially the wesr/grease on the rear step. Hope to see another build in the future.

Yes, you can do compound surfaces with overlapping, but doesn't worth it, I find. Besides, let an European ask you: what chrome has to do with a working truck?

Russell, Jim and Darrell, thanks! I enjoy taking these pics outdoors - the colors really pop! Funny thing tho, when you forget to fix some detail, add too much or little weathering, leave a glue blob, forget a seam, screw up your putty work, polish through to primer, over do it with clear coat, miss a sanding spot in the clear coat....those jump out too!
