I build tanks and ships...
... and not cars.
But this was a fun exception.
My second car kit, Academy's 1/16 Jaguar 1939 SS-100 sports roadster, with the top down:
Or when it rains, deployed:
And here's a view of the engine from the top:

This wonderful project (really had great fun doing this - probably because of the large scale) was not for me, but for a classmate of mine who seems to enjoy the model as I type this post.
More pix of the SS-100 with...
2-Bravo and Strv-103B:
Some customizing for my classmate such as the rear license plate:
(RSB being her initials, 323 being her birthday - coincidently, her real car has the same plate and is painted red)
As well as the front plate:
Engine shots:
The dashboard:
(The kit had a decal for the entire dashboard simulating woodgrain. It was awful. So instead, I scribed my own woodgrain with a No.11 blade, mixed up some wood-looking paint, add wash, clear gloss to seal everything, then decals, clear gloss again, then the clear parts)
Some more pix:
This was a really fun build. My first car kit (Tamiya 1/24 Porsche Boxster for my youngest sister) was made two years ago. This project was a very welcome relief from the usual stuff. And fast, too! Two weeks - from purchase to final assembly - and that's fast in my standards! (takes me ages to build a kit)
This is what I like about in our hobby - if someone says she wants a Jag, you can say "sure'. Of course, it'll be in 1/16, 1/24, or 1/32, but still... :-)

Very nice model. Nothing beats a red sport car.

These are not new moulds, I beleive they were made by someone else before Academy took them over. Three & four wheel Morgans too. Great kits and a good lookin' job you've made of it (better in BRG though!)

Thanks!
DaveCox: BRG? Yeah, I figured this is a ye olde kit, considering that the box was worn, and the instruction sheet looked very old. Love the size of the thing - welcome relief from all the small parts found in 1/35 armour.
Now, to find a 1/16 Porsche Boxster for my sister....

That's a good looking cat. The customized licens plates look pretty cool.
