Since 1996, the Actros is made. With the heavy-duty truck Mercedes-Benz introduced as part of the so-called Telligent strategy, the electronic control of the engine and the transmission, an electronically controlled braking system as well as networking in commercial vehicles. Not only the long production time or the high sales figures, and the multiple award as Truck of the Year demonstrate the success of the tractor. The Actros is considered ultimately as an indicator of the reliability of the commercial vehicle sector. In 2003 carried out the first major overhaul, the second facelift was carried out in 2008. This internally as a pilot project 3 (= MP 3) designated construction stage is the last revision of the Actros the first generation ago. Furthermore, the Actros offers a sovereign and quite successful combination of efficiency, performance and comfort. The vehicle is powered by the proven six-cylinder with 12 liters capacity (OM 541) as well as the V8s with 16 liters capacity (OM 542), which afford 320-598 hp and comply with both the Euro 5 standard. Both engines have been able to convince in the past with traction and simultaneous economy in fuel consumption. Unlike its predecessor, the radiator grille of the MP 3 only three slats and acts clearly curved.
