Well...my German Beauties didn't get past the starting line so hopefully this "Red Head" will roll all the way through. Late fifties so just making it into the vintage pre-60's era

I will be building Airfix's Bentley. Biggest thing I have ever built. First wanted to build this in 1975 but never had enough pocket money! (Just had to ask the wife this time)

Re-enlisted!!!

Just found a 1963 Mustang11 - the old Lindberg 4in1 kit.
Not a great fan of Yank tin, but I love Mustangs and the original just has to count as a classic.

I knew fully well when I set the time-stop to 1960 that it was a difficult thing to determine exactly, since "Vintage" and "Classic" are really very vague terms.

I'll accept it. I always thought, though, the first Ford Mustang came out in 1965. I was led to believe that the Mustang was made in my honor since I was born in 65'... Maybe Linberg's model were of the one Gurney drove?

In my son's words then "You'll fit right in with that GB, your so old that you are a Classic..."

Hi Brian,

Just goes to show that I ought to read the campaign brief better! Originally we discussed ending in the 1960s, so I'm glad you're letting me in with this car. See link below for the story of the car:

No problem at all!! When push comes to shove this is supposed to be fun.

The beginning of the sixties have shaped the automotive industry to what it is today, at least in "Yankie" terms. The renaissance to re-make many of the "Classic" muscle cars is a testimony to that.

My opinion is that Shelby, from his racing history, saw the need for a musclebound, fun car and there were none really in the states at the time. So he pulled together ideas from Europe and the US and made an awesome car, which was more a racing car than sports car. Mr. Ford saw this and the Mustang was born. The rest is history...

Now looking for another project, as the seller for the '63 Mustang has refunded my money - he's "lost" the kit.

I'll find something........everything else I have is too new.

Nice choices, guys. I haven't bought mine yet either. Still thinking. All those Hudson kits look good though.

I have AMT's old 53 Corvette, but the quality makes me shiver. I want to do a 35 Auburn but only Lindberg makes it...

Is there an official gallery for this build, or do we load finished photos via our own albums?

Thanks for the gallery James!

Here's my entry - AMT 1958 Plymouth Belvedere/Fury. Although "Christine" was supposed to be a Fury, most of the 27 cars used in the film were Belvederes. The model reflects this in that there is the legend 'Belvedere' moulded into the plastic on the rear wings. Not actually one of AMTs best - the chassis was twisted one way and the floor pan the other so rubber bands and superglue were needed to get this thing together. Paintwork looks better in real life than in the pics, but ain't that always the way! More photos in the GB gallery.

I think we're going to have to have a "Beat Dave Cox in finishing before him" GB... You are indeed a master, don't care what you say!

Beautiful Dave, hopefully you didn't hurt your back getting Christine back to her pristine condition

Moving along on my red head, seats are done, body assembled and along with the wheels have some initial paint on, and working along on the engine/chassis. This kit is a pleasure to build so far, kudos to Hasegawa.

Looking good James. That car has been on my wishlist for ages - I just can't get it for a decent price!

Cars of that era were such beautiful shapes, artforms in metal.
