Remember boys and girls, the proper colors for a Chevy are Primer Gray and rust.

I would think Damian would be an expert in Chevy colors......
I mean, he DOES have a new baby at home which means he has to change dirty diapers several times each day.

And it's a lot more fun than pushing a MOPAR back to the repair shop, several times each day. Eventually Evie will stop needing diapers, your Hemi, on the other hand . . . . . . .

Well folks, here we are! It's about 2AM on January 1 here in the Great Southern Land, so we are officially open for business. Please use this thread to post your build updates and general mudslinging, but also feel free to create a dedicated build log for your own builds as well if you so desire.

Best wishes to everybody for a Happy, Safe and Prosperous 2015, and good luck with your builds here.

I have been really looking forward to this since it was first raised, let's have some fun guys.

Cheers, D 🚗🚙🚕

Same to you D, and everyone else.

In other news, looks like a sad, sad year indeed for Chevy lovers across the land. The first 2015 Z06 engine to roll out of the factory has blown up with just 891 miles on the odometer.

Now that IS funny.
On a similar note, my 11-year-old tells me that Silverados are constantly being recalled, every time we see one. I Don't know where he gets his information, but I trust him.
Also, for Christmas my family got me a 78 Trans Am kit, but I'll stick with my '62 Bel Air for this one.
Happy New Year!

Sean, it saddens me to know that you had such a horrible Christmas present. Maybe it's just a phase they're going through. Perhaps some group therapy is in order? JK

I drive a 2013 Chevy 2500 Heavy Duty that my company provides me. It has a little over 12 thousand miles on the odometer and is on it's 2nd transmission (first one blew at 4,000 miles). The rear end came out at 8k miles, both rear axle seals have been replaced twice, and the water pump gave out last month.
My coworker has a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 which recently turned 200,000 miles on the odometer and (I'm not making this up) has had the oil changed in it once per year since 2008.

I notice that you left out one important fact Hermon, you have had to do 11,500 miles out of the 12,000 on the Chevy TOWING THE DODGE!

Oh gosh, now I've got to go mine the stash. I know there was a RM 1/25 2009 Dodge Challenger out there. And a 50's Pontiac somewhere. There's also a 1st generation Camero in there, but it's part started, it already has a factory fresh paint job, complete with brush marks.

Hi Mark.

I don't have a problem with you running with the Camaro if you want to go that way. I would rather see it gracing the roads, making the Hemi drivers jealous, than lurking in the workshop.

Hmmmm, perhaps I should dredge up the Hemi 'Cuda convertible that I started for our last attempt at this GB and try to get it finished this year as well.

Off topic, I'm still keen to do a Mustang Group Build later in the year, or perhaps a Ford vs ? For next year, maybe you should head that one up being the Blue Oval nut that you are!

Cheers, D

Well, Mustang vs. Camaro or Mustang vs. Challenger is a natural, but it's sort of limited. Each nameplate has had no more than 5 or 6 generations (eliminating Mustang II and the Pinto flavors) Ford vs. Chevy would have a very wide selection of eras and styles. And a lot more opportunities for rust buckets of any description.

A Mustang group build would be nice, but there are only so many kits out there. I had an idea a few years ago for a group build that could be called "Detroit Iron" and it would feature all the hot cars from the 60's and 79's. Everything from the big three (Chrysler-Chevy-Ford) as well as AMC. There are some fantastic kits out there of the old AMX, Rambler, Javelin, etc. We never see anyone build any of those cars.

Rambler? Does anyone actually have a kit of that one? When I was a kit, my neighbor swore by them, but just a few years later they disappeared into AMC...

Sounds cool, let's get an interest thread started for our next grand adventure!

After the off-road dirt-bashing mud-slinging stump-jumping party concludes of course.

I have started on the charger.

I am surprised that with all the bolt detail they missed the drain plug the second pic is to show my way of minimizing the misalignment of the heads, I mount the intake first then fit the heads to the intake.

Cheers Rob.

Rob, you've figured out the smart way to do it. Intake first and no gaps on either side. Piece of cake.

Strange about the missing drain plug
I'd have figured the chevy kit would be the one missing the drain plug.....since with all the oil leaks there's rarely any oil left to drain.

Thanks Herman!

I like to include any tips I have come across as it may help someone that has not come across it.

I added the drain plug by cutting a piece off a small plastic hex rod, then painted the engine and tranny.

Cheers Rob.
