Strange about the missing drain plug
I'd have figured the chevy kit would be the one missing the drain plug.....since with all the oil leaks there's rarely any oil left to drain.

Hemi don't need no drain plug, oil comes out freely through the sump gasket and rear main seal, and fairly often out through the spark plugs!

Rob, nice work so far. Don't let the difficulties that you inevitably face building the Charger take away from the enjoyment of the hobby.

Cheers, D

Rob, that's gotta be the closet match I've seen to the real Hemi Orange. Looks great! What color did you use? I just used plain old Tamiya orange on mine cause that's all I had but it's way too light.

Hermon,
It's an illusion, I did not have a decent orange so I just painted it MM kiln red and it is a metallic color so did not show correctly in the pic.

Cheers Rob.

Well, I found my Hemi:

My prepainted Camaro went missing in the Great Packing Debacle of September. Oh no, I may have to actually pay money for a Chevy.

Still haven't had any luck finding a Chevy. Started at Goodwill on Saturday. Usually a great place to find Chevy models that other folks have given up on. No luck. Tried a couple of shops that sold car kits. They want over U$20 for these kits! That's almost what the full size one are worth...

I wish our local Goodwill stores had model kits. All we get is dirty kitchen ware, broken lamps, and clothes.

They're few and far between. I checked a local store in Wilsonville, OR about every other week for over a year and found about 15 kits all told. A couple of sailing ships, a couple of planes and copters and the rest cars. The best time may be in late September, early October when Mom gets to cleaning out Junior's room after he leaves for college...

Ok have decided to join the build, to pretty good Revell kits, both will be done as drag cars. I know I have plenty of paint for the Dodge just have to get some for the big Chevy.

I intended to build Cheby and Mopar from the same year(1968 year of my birth), but the supplier couldn't deliver the 1968 Charger after all, so it will be a 1969 instead.

See how the Cheby box have been chewed? My dog did that. Good boy

Jesper, sorry to hear about your dog.

If he makes it 24 hours without any ill effects he just may pull through. Let this be a lesson to all of us. Never, and I mean NEVER bring a chebby kit into the house and carelessly lay it down where a child or animal can get hold of it. They should make kit locks for those things.....just like a gun lock, but stronger.

Hermon: It's all my fault, I brought this evil into my home and the dog did what he had to do, to protect his familly.
Just to be on the safe side, I did bring extra heavy duty poo poo bags, when I took him for a walk.
Hence forth, all such dangereous subjects will be locked up in a suitable containment area.

You guys have it all wrong. The dog knows the truth of it. The Chev box is like spinach to Popeye, you dog will be indestructible and irresistible to the opposite sex!
If it had eaten the Charger box all of its hair would have fallen out and half of its teeth. At least that's what seems to happen to people who own Mopars!

Jesper, very nice choices there, I can't wait to see how they progress!

Fans of pitiful Hemi, beware!
I received my kits today (Oh, yeah!)

As you can see, Chevy is already on top... Needless to add anything at all

That 70 1/2 Camaro kit seems to be the crowd favorite here. Am I the only one who likes the elegant simplicity of the SS Bel Air? I like a subtle sleeper.
I admit my Charger kit is a recent one, so the rust won't have gotten too far up fenders. That would make the build more challenging.

I'm trying to cadge a '70's Camaro Z-28/SS out of my son. He's had it for years but never started it. The price could be right....

Quite a few started already and some great progress being made. A couple of us have started dedicated Build Log Threads, so I will try to keep an updated list here as well.

VonCuda's 'Cuda vs Camaro is HERE

Tinbanger's Camaro vs Charger is HERE

Aussiereg's GTO vs Charger is HERE

I decided not to go with the '67 Corvette because it is so incredibly awesome that if I started posting pictures the Hemi fans here would just pack up and leave. I am hoping that the '67 GTO won't have the same effect, but it wouldn't surprise me. Oh well, it might just end up being a Chev Group Build !

Much as I would like to disqualify Hermon and have him committed for treatment, I think he is here to stay !

The first HEMI (in capitals) represents the team that he is playing for.

Cheers, D
