Some progress on my Revell Ford Focus at last...

Overview of most of the work to date. Interior painted with Testors Dark Aircraft Gray from a rattle can and cushions were painted with Vallejo Model Air Intermediate Blue. You can see the speaker system the kid replaced the back seat with.

4-cylinder engine, painted using Testors Buffing Aluminum Metallizer. Still awaiting a dark wash to bring out the detail a little more and it is missing an oil cooler. I drybrushed the firewall detail with aluminum enamel and cemented it in place last night.

Anyone have tips for detailing the undercarriage? I am still familiarizing myself with car models. As you can see I went with the aftermarket exhaust option.

The hubcaps were painted with Testors Metallizer Gun Metal. They will match the aftermarket side sills and bumpers.

Still no work yet on the body. I will be using Tamiya TS-53 Midnight Blue Metallic but must prime first.

looking good Van, best way to see what goes on underneath a car, is get your head under your car and check it out. Remember this is the dirtiest part of the car as it collects all the road dirt, salt etc. and starts to show signs of rust pretty quick. The Exhaust gets rusty quick too, as it heats and cools, and gets wet and heats and cools, and so on. Hope this helps buddy.
Oh you could make it a show car or a new car so you not need as much weathering.

Greeting to everyone. Found these forums quite by accident via the Face Book page for Aoshima who were referring back to a review that was done of their "Harley-Davidson" Motorcycle.

For this group build I've decided to go with one of the newest people movers that's been kitted recently.

The only "downside" of the Tamiya version of the Toyota 86 is that it's a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) only kit. There is only a RHD set-up, unlike the Aoshima kit which allows for JDM 86, Euro Spec 86 GT and North American Scion FR-S building options with LHD dash and parts for the Scion & Euro Spec 86 GT.

Well.....base is coming along, car is done, although I keep playing around with it. Just a little bit more to do and it's finito

This was car on base after I had put on main base layer.

This the base as of today, painted up, but still needs weathering, gras added but more to come, and tree screwed to base. I closed the lid on the car so its just open a little, it looked too uniform. Will paint the grass over next couple of days and add car to base. A few little extras to add to base an it will be done.

cheers Pete

Peter: There are a few GBs on the horizon. The German Beauties will be finishing in about two weeks. There is a Vintage/Classic GB that has just been launched for enlisting. The next one after that one will be racing related... There is always room for more suggestions!! Welcome!!

Interior of my Ford Focus is complete, and the body is primed and awaiting paint.

I tried my hand at highlighting the cushion creases and lines in the doors.

Got a couple hours to paint the body of my Ford Focus yesterday. I used Tamiya TS-53 Midnight Blue Metallic from a rattle can. The Tamiya spray cans are great for car bodies, it is very easy to get a good gloss sheen with them with minimal effort.

Been a very long time all. Sorry I've been so distant.

My Ranchero is in it's basic stages. Body primed, bed cover textured and painted. I started on the "cockpit" some time back and painted everything with a semi-gloss black. The floor was done in Tamiya's newer enamel rubber. The seats (where your backside and back rest on) were done in a bright yellow (Tami bottle paint) along with the highlighted area of the door panels. Ugh, what a mess. Bright yellow, by brush, does NOT cover black or primer gray worth a squat!

So, I got a rattle-can of yellow and hit the cockpit with it. Now, that looks good. I'll follow up with the various blacks once again and that should take care of that.

Battery for the camera is charging, so I hope to get some basic progress photos up before long.

Mike

Side note: the previous builds here are...stellar. Lordy, ya'll done and are doing excellent work.

Here is my Startup Photo and the 4 finished photos. All are in the gallery.
This is the first car model I have made in 50 years. It was a lot of fun, but trying to get a gloss finish was a real pain.
There are a lot of great models already done and the ones still in progress make me envious.
Tom

The Mustang looks Great!

I hope to get back on mine sometime soon as I am looking forward to trying the Alclad II candy paints.

Cheers Rob.
