I took the liberty of starting this thread for the new group build that started yesterday as I couldn't find another 'official' thread.

Opened the box this morning ready to start my first entry - Tamiya Jaguar Mk11. This car was an iconic people mover - not just as a civilian saloon, but also favoured by both the police, criminals and racing drivers for it's power and handling.

PS: will we have a dedicated 'campaign gallery', or should everybody just post their photos into this thread?

Dave, is that the same car that was used by Inspector Morse in the tv series?

That's the one!

I haven't decided yet on the body colour. The kit lists red for the interior for all options - WRONG! I'm using a cream/tan for the interior, and either maroon or dark blue for the exterior.

Thank you!

As the weather is getting better, the build will probably slow down. My other hobby is nature/wildlife photography and my shutter finger gets itchy when the light improves......

Mike has probably missed that it is March already, like I have done myself!!! Won't be too much building done this month for me... I have three moves to coordinate! We sold the house, bought an apartment and my son is moving to a flat as well...

But I'm going to do a 53' Corvette, I think!!

Getting in on the ground floor of this GB. Doing a true people mover with the 1999-2002 Ford Focus SVT 2 in 1 (Revell 1/25). I am a fan of mass produced people movers in model form when I can find them as they are typically much more rare and interesting than seeing a Mustang or Chevelle or Bel Air for the upteenth time.

The kit from Revell can be built stock or as a custom tuner. It is OOP and I have not seen it anywhere online except for from one seller in Virginia who appears to have a ton of them. I am still finishing up a couple other things before I start this, but I am probably going to do it mostly stock, but with some of the aftermarket tuner parts to give it the feel of being owned by a teenager modding his car on the go as he gets the money for it.

Jag finished (chrome strips missing as Tamiya's metal transfers were old and wouldn't stick!); Mini ready to go!

Mike

The blue is Revell enamel 54, applied by brush over Tamiya XF54 Field Blue undercoat; with Windsor & Newton gloss artists varnish on top. The interior is Revell semi-gloss cream with details brought out using diluted Windsor and Newton Peat Brown drawing ink.

Getting a good finish is easy with good sable brushes, even brush strokes (the first gloss coat is front-to-back, the second from side-to-side and the third from front-to-back again to even out any brush strokes) and a good finish. That's why I use artists gloss varnish instead of modellers varnish. It's so thin that any remaining brushmarks vanish.

2nd entry completed! 9062PK was an Austin Cooper owned by my wife in the early 1960s....the original had a Welsh dragon painted on the bonnet (hood) but I bottled out of trying that!

Surprise 3rd entry - what better way of moving people every day than a bus!. This is Tower Models 1/76 scale Leyland Olympian. Painted entirely in acrylics and only 17 pieces, hence the fast build whilst waiting for bits of Mini to dry.

I changed the yellow of the box top pic for dark blue as Metrobus operates locally in these colours.

This photo shows the Olympian with my other braille-scale buses - Peco 1927 Maudsley, KeilKraft 1953 T-type coach, and Tower Model's Leyland National (in ficticious marking as the kit had no decals)

Nice builds to all. Dave, is the Austin Cooper the Tamiya kit? I saw this at the LHS and was sorely tempted.

No, this is the Revell kit. I think it's better than Tamiya's.........and cheaper!
