Almost there man. I can probably speak for most of us watching this build in saying that the final result looks like it's going to be amazing judging by all the time and effort to detail you've put into this kit

Thanks for the confidence, Steve!
I have this weekend off, the whole weekend, two whole days in a row! Incredible. More progress will happen.

Nice job so far man! Say, do I spy the beginnings of a continental kit there? Are you going to extend the bumper for a full kit, blend that tire carrier into the trunk or let it sit on the back?
Or, should I just shaddup and watch?!.......

Thanks for looking in again. Yes, the spare tire case will be on the back bumper. It won't be shaped into the trunk lid (is that what is called a continental?).
That part was was a cap from an industrial grade, isopropyl, gallon bottle. Another discard from the trash can at work. It will fit a scale 26" wheel perfectly.

OK, got the whole body primed this morning and started on the spare tire arm assembly.
It will be a similar style to the HMMWV.
Made from a motorcycle part from the spare parts box with a brass hinge and styrene details will be added such as braces and push/pull pin locks. Also some general clean up and maybe a few weld seems

thanks for looking

That's pretty cool. There's a company that sells a kit to convert the rear end of you Donk or any car really into a continental style (trunk mounted spare tire). I've seen many cars with them and only a couple, including the Cadillac Brougham as featured look good with them

What company? I'd like to check it out for future builds. I wanted this build to look like a military sort of vehicle.

Nice job.
Where did you get the idea?

Erikssson.

I was browsing a LHS and saw this kit for sale at 5 Bucks! So, I grabbed it with intension of an OOB build. I know nothing about lifted cars (Donks, Bubbles, Boxes). Had to internet research extensively. Saw a few theme Donks and decided to make mine a theme Caddy.
My background is military modeling, so I decided on a US Navy Seabee theme. Then got stuck in details and the improvement of a few and here we are...
Thanks for looking. I love this hobby!

Spare tire case is shaping up. Covered the back mounting side with a piece of sheet styrene that was cut to the correct round shape.

Step 9, Part 35 has a flaw in the molding to look out for

The body has some flaws that need attention as well. It's around the "vinyl" top area. Putty and/or sanding required on both sides

Alright got the body color on and finished the spare tire case in the back

that's a 26" diameter low pro wheel in there!

final assembly moving forward

After masking the for the paint for the vinyl top, then spraying the color on. I noticed a few flaws around the edges and the masking tape on the green parts left weird impressions.
I went back the next day and re-masked in reverse. Masking off the black that I sprayed to re-spray the body green.

KSO, I haven't kept up with the auto site for a while but your Donk is looking great. I can actually smell the farts coming from those leather seats. Only thing the interior is lacking in my opinion is a cup holder on the dash with a big ol' grape soda resting in it.

SIck man.....looks great.

... a cup holder! Good thinking. Yes the dash needs something extra...

Great, this kit's headlamps are engineered correctly. No need for glue of any kind. No crazing, no fogging, no smudges or excess...

There are well placed tabs on the clear part and slots in the bezel

The amber (orange) color for the turn signal is Gunze Sangyo [H 92] clear orange. I didn't have any clear yellow or amber

Hoods or eyelids as we like to call them are pieces of metal or plastic that cover the headlight to make it look thinnier / sleepy / angry (believe it or not)
