I am a Chev man all the way. When I was growing up my father and I restored several old Pontiacs, 64 Laurentians, 67 and 69 Parisiennes and a 69 Bonneville.
How about you Gabriel, where does your loyalty lie?
Cheers, D

To be honest, I'm a Chevy supporter by circumstance... I'm European so... I'm a Mercedes / BMW / WV / Volvo kind a guy
For this group build though I'm immovable CHEVY!

Gabriel, Mercedes, BMW, VW.....nothing wrong with those choices. Truth be told, if my dream car is nothing less than a Mercedes AMG Black.
Chester, nothing wrong with Japanese cars. In my youth I used to take my 240Z and beat the pants off Camaros, Mustangs, etc. on Friday nights.

I accidentally posted this in Herman's thread instead of here.

I have been cleaning parts and working on the engine, the first photo shows some of my stash for plug wires and hoses(mostly Detail Associates I believe) I will be using the blue wire on the spool for my plug wires this is wrapping wire from Radio Shack and is very economical and comes in a few colors.
 Drilled some holes
and I am thinking of using some of this felt for the carpet but I found it to be too thick, so I managed to slit it down the center
it is now thin enough just have to apply it.
I have started using Magic Metallic by Mayco for replicating rust I don't recall where I found out about this but saved a picture of it I found and had a hard time tracking it down.
anyways it is a two part system, you apply the steel metallic two or three coats the apply rapid rust to the last damp coat, when that is the color you are after you seal it to stop the reaction.
This is just my second try at this and I like the results.
Cheers Rob.

Cool update, Rob seems to be you are rusting a chev?
Posted: Thursday, January 22, 2015 - 06:25 AM UTC
See Rob, I told you once you mastered rust, you'd be ready for a Chevy.

Very nice work there Rob. Guess the 440, must have been to close to a Chevy. Chevy rust is highly contagious.

Thanks James. The way some of these guys are going there will be some cool builds in the gallery in no time!
As for yours truly, I haven't even had time to shoot some Sprue shots, most unprofessional for a Group Build Leader

Update time folks.
Apart from the builds in this thread, we have 3 dedicated build log threads going on already.
Voncuda is doing a Speed Build HERE and doing a mighty fine job on both the 70 Cuda and 70 Camaro.
Tinbanger is building the same Camaro as Voncuda, alongside a 71 Charger. His build thread can be found HERE
At this stage my build log thread is nothing more than a "pictures of parts" thread HERE for my 67 GTO and 67 Charger builds.
I will try to post notifications in this thread as things progress in the other dedicated build logs, so please make sure you take a look and comment to keep things busy.
Cheers, D

Here's a small update on my 2010 Camaro build, added gunze silver to replicated the heat shield, instead of the whole mono color as instruction indicated.

Cheers!!

More updates!
Rob, almost enough rust, but not nearly enough oil leaks, and to be really true-to-life you need to show the big end of a con-rod sticking out through the side of the block !
Seriously, nice work. Looking good so far.
Chester, great finish on the Camaro undercarriage, it looks like an awesome piece of engineering and far superior in every way to any Dodge alternative!
We also have a new dedicated build log thread underway. Robert (rv1963) is going to treat us to some of his great detailing and scratchbuilding techniques on a broken down, rusted out old 68 Dodge Dart and a magnificent high-performance 62 Impala in his thread which can be found HERE
Cheers, D

These pics all have to do with only one part,
 the fan belt and pulley's.
I started by thinning the belts with an Exacto knife then thinning more, then opening up the power steering pulley and finally painting the lower pulley the engine color and the rest of the pulleys semi gloss black with the belts being a flat rubber color.

Cheers Rob.

Can I change my choice of kits. I would like to use a JO-Han Chrysler Turbine car and an AMT Chevrolet Sportside pickup. I figure I should try something other than 1/72 scale kits.

G'day Darrell.
The Chevy Sportside would fit the bill, but the Turbine doesn't really fit in with the "6- or 8-cylinder" rule.
That being said, it's a really cool looking concept car and would add some variety to the Group Build, so I don't really see why not !
Carry on mate, I'm looking forward to watching your builds progress.

Update on my Camaro:
1st Mist coat to make the paint adhere to the kit, just let it dry for a day before wetsanding and applying another coat, since I'm using an automotive paint

Just my luck encountered a fitting issue... need to shave the exhaust chamber in order to fit the engine to the chassis
