Looks like a neat masking job Charlie, what paint did you use for the chrome trim? Nice gloss on the red body work as well.
Great to see the Corvette back on the bench.
Cheers, D
Krylon!! It looked so good on a side project I did I wanted to try it on some trim. I really wasn't wanting to learn how to use Alclad! The bas coat is two coats of Tamiya red with two light and one heavy coat of Krylon clear.

I really wasn't wanting to learn how to use Alclad!
There's nothing to be scared of with Alclad, it's one of the easiest to use. I just use a Tamiya Acrylic Black for the base coat, gloss or semi-gloss depending on the finish I'm after, than just spray the Alclad (straight from the bottle into the airbrush) in several light coats at 12-15 psi to build up the colour density that I like.
The only thing that you need to watch is that it is a bit fragile and doesn't stand up to a lot of handling. Just have a look at the chrome trim on my 55 El Camino in this thread! I'm about to re-mask and respray the side trims on that one.
Now that the 51 Bel Air and 911 Slant Nose are off my bench, I will put the finishing touches on my build here.
Who else is still tinkering with the Queen in their garage?
Cheers, D

I have to admit, not I. Since the cat knocked the K100 off the shelf chasing a mole/vole/"some sort of rodent", I put the pieces back in the box & haven't look at it since. But I have a W900 that I can finish, maybe.

Over the last couple of days I have been tinkering with the 55 El Camino. I resprayed the side chrome trim, touched up some chrome where it had worn off through handling, added the head light lenses, tail lights and front and rear bumper add-ons. For the moment it is done. I will come back to it to apply some weathering in the future but I need to work on my oil paint rendering technique on some paint mules first.
This is my third completion for 2019, very satisfying to get some solid progress.
As always, love to hear any comments. suggestions and critique.
I have loaded these images into the gallery as well.
Cheers, D

OK, so it's a quiet Saturday morning, so why am I watching YouTube videos about car modeling?
Here's a fairly good one from the early 90's that covers a lot of territory on building, modifying, finishing and weathering car models. Even has nice things to say about good old Testor's tube cement. Considering it's the 90's there's not too much on foreign model supplies, mostly just Testors products.

It's done, it's done. I'm Calling it Finished.
Revell 1969 Z-28 Camaro.
When the hell did I start this 2010? Oh no, it was 2011.
Now where is the gallery?

Hi all.
We are fast approaching the half way mark of our annual year-long "Garage Queens" group build. This is the place to find some motivation and support to drag out and finish off those Auto builds that stalled for whatever reason.
Uncover them, blow off the dust, get them back up on the hoist, and get them finished off and on the display shelf where they belong!
We have 2 completed builds in the Gallery, and a few WIP in the pages here, I have edited the initial post of this thread and put in a list of interested and enlisted parties, as well as their nominated builds, which I will keep updated regularly.
Cheers, D

Well, Joel, thanks. I'm not sure it deserves high praise, but it's the first airbrushed civilian vehicle I've ever finished, or at least the first since 1968...

Ok, I'll play too with my Revell 1/24 Trans Am
Lot's of great builds here already!
Mine's a late entry I know, but Damian and Joel twisted my arm
Here's where she's languished for the last few years
and recent prep work for top coats
A full blog can be found here
Let's see if I can break the group build "hoodoo"

Russ, thank you for joining the GB. I've seen already the post on the dedicated thread. Well done so far.
Joel and Damian, thank you for stepping up and covering my absence. I'm being a little more consistent lately with my presence on the tables - still a little too busy at work and with the restauration of my 1:1 car, but here...

Gabriel,
You're part of the team, and not replaceable. Post and build when you can. Can't ask for more then that.

I am in with my Tamiya 1/20 Brabham BT46; a non-finisher from the previous "Garage Queens".
Here is where the back of the car is (where most of the work has been done).
The intakes are just balanced there for the picture. I've added the Gold tint to the Aluminum and it looks a lot better.
I think with a little more work I can put the engine and gearbox together. The front half (chassis) will take a lot of work.
I'm thinking of doing the rear wing separately. It's pretty much it's own model that gets glued to the gearbox at the end with painting, decaling, and assembly. It's tricky since there are a few decals that go on the insides of the end plates before assembly.
