Gary,
your engine and transmission look great. Your choice of colors really makes a huge difference.

You can bet that I'll be following your build till you cross the finish line. Outside of Indy cars, F1 is my favorite series. Been following it since 1963.

With the Porsche Group Build finished, and a few days until the Blue Oval kicks into action, I thought it might be time to bring this thread back to the top of the page.

Any progress reports on the in-progress builds here?

Any late starters to join in? There is still a 3-month run time on this thread to use as motivation to get one of those hidden-away builds out and completed and on display!

Cheers, D

Well, my Revell 1978 Trans Am is progressing and should be completed within the 3 months remaining!

The fuel tank's been detailed

the windscreen's been painted, the rear view mirror and the headlights too

although since this pic, I've resprayed the headlights totally black, so that I can use Bare Metal Foil for the trim.
the interior and engine bay sprayed black also (I think they really liked to standardize these cars on the line and just paint the shell with colour)

I've since started masking up ready for primer and top coat

There's a few more items still to mask, but should be able to start laying down primer and some colour soon

Looking good Jesper...

Question: do you BMF after clear coat or apply clear coat over the BMF to seal it in?

Sweeeeeeeeeet! My long term strategy to make this an exclusively Chevy forum is slowly working 😎

Super work on this one Jesper, I love it!

I have only done that once and it didn't turn out well. the BMF got an almost matt finish. I know some do this, but I doubt I'll do it again.

Make it the Ford, to counter D's evil plans.

Russell,
interesting question on clear coating BMF. For certain the clear coats do help to seal and protect the very delicate nature of BMF from being accidently damaged. The few times I used it on a aircraft build, I did seal it.

The issue is that the clear coat will change the finish of the BMF to whatever the clear coat is. In the case of gloss car finishes, it shouldn't effect the chrome foil. But if you're using a Matt finish BMF that I prefer for race car purposes, then I don't gloss over it, or use a Matt clear coat.

Hi eMan.

Thanks for joining in here, that certainly is an unusual little truck and it will be great to see it completed. How has the kit fitted together during the build? Any issues to report?

Looking forward to your progress reports.

Lap Man,
Like D said, I'd also love to see this highly unusual truck finished and displayed here.

Thanks Joel hopefully I haven't applied too thick a coat now that there's a second layer on!

Very nice work Russ, love it!

About 7 weeks left to run here, 7 weeks to the end of another decade! I'm sure that somebody has pushed the fast-forward button, it really doesn't seem like 20 years since we sounded in the new millennium!

Hopefully we can see a couple more builds cross the line here, out of the workshop and on display where they belong!

Cheers, D

It's days like this what make me question my sanity, and if I'll ever finish a Garage Queens Group Build.

First, my 1974 Kenworth K100 was coming along, and was on track to be finished for the campaign. However, one day while sitting on the Shelf of Shame, the cat decided to help!

While the damage to the model is not irreparable, it was a devastating blow.

So, after cleaning up that disaster I switched focus to finishing up my 1949 Mercury Club Coupe police car. I swear, this car is paint cursed!

The gods are against me! I guess that's why builds like these are "Garage Queens", and have a permanent spot on the Shelf of Shame.

Dogs are safer!

My modeling mojo has left so I un-enlisted almost all of my campaigns. Good luck to the rest of you!
