D,
Thanks my friend. Wish I could say the same for here. Our local food stores are literally empty. Outside of some frozen foods that I don't eat, you can't find any chicken, fish, meats, or even pasta and sauce. People come and literally wipe a shelf clean. They don't have limits so people just don't care. Who needs 100 rolls of TP? But the shelves which run 80 ft are empty of TP, paper towels, soap, everything.

The projections for the USA as of this morning is by Dec 210 million will have the virus, and up to 1.5 million will have died. There are now enough test kits for the hot spots, but they don't have personal protective gear so they're still not doing testing on the scale that needs to be done.

Honestly, with my personal health conditions of someone 72, I'm not expecting to make it. Even if a vaccine becomes available, I'll be last in line. Sorry, but I'm just being honest.

I don't know who said 1.5M dead in the USA Joel, but that sounds like blatant fear mongering given that the total worldwide numbers of deaths is currently 10,400, and this thing has been around since December. 210 million infected is worst case, but kind of lines up with the 60% figure that's been floated around for the herd immunity. However remember that a great many people can be infected and show no symptoms (as seen in S Korea who have done the most extensive testing regime).

Regarding vaccines, if you are in a vulnerable group due to age and underlying conditions, you will be at the front of the queue rather than the back. My company used to make vaccines before we sold it off, and I would imagine the absolute best case scenario for a vaccine would be by winter time, but yes it will be limited availability as they are not quick and easy to make (easy to develop, but not easy to test and not easy to produce). But as I said, the priority will be healthcare workers, and vulnerable groups.

Alas I fear that in the US, in an election year, with a toxic political situation and a media completely consumed by TDS that getting sensible, level-headed reporting might be hard.

Neil,
The 1.5 million is the worst case scenario. At this point it really doesn't matter. They can't control the virus and it's spreading like crazy. Every day we get new mandates. As of today, NYS is basically in lockdown. You have to stay at home unless you're going to or work at a pharmacy or food store. Like the kids and PT lady cashiers are going to keep on going into work when they can stay home and collect. I went to the pharmacy for two prescriptions for my wife. Usually the pharmacy has 1 pharmacist till 11am, 2 certified techs, and two ancillary's (cashiers). Today they were down to one pharmacist and one other person. No one else showed up. And these scripts were called in last Friday by my Wife's doctor. I even offered to go back there and fill as I believe I'm still certified, but it could have run out since I retired.

One good thing from this whole mess, much less travel for me. In that vein, I got to spend enough time in the workshop this week that I should have it finished in a couple days.

Hey David,

Your Bronco looks great! I’ve been waiting to see this. I like the whole package, dual shocks, engine - nice ride!

David,

Now that's one very impressive Bronco. I'll also 2nd Nick's praise on the underside details.

Thanks all, me being me, I'm a bit disappointed in the way it is looking. We are all our own worst critics most of the time.

The little bits and final assembly and I'll call it done.

What is it that is putting you off David? I think it looks great! The only thing that catches my eye is that the interior is a bit "sterile" for want of a better term. Some pin wash on the seats to break up the white, maybe a fishing rod poking out the back and a tackle box on the seat. I suppose that is one drawback of a soft-top.

Close to the end now, keep up the great work!

Cheers, D

Thanks D., what I see is the flares aren't properly fit. Two slipped while attaching and left CA stains in the clear. You can see the shadow behind the left front one.

There is a pin wash on the seats and dash that washed out (pun intended) with the lighting, you should see it better if I photograph it in natural light. The roll cage will break it up some too, when it is installed.

I have a few items I may add to the rear interior, fuel can, Hi-Lift jack, etc., if I feel like it.

It'll do.

I may reenlist in the Strip & Track one if I keep working from home for a while. Maybe the Zakspeed Capri, I don't know.

The next build is going to be Sci-Fi though. Probably an A-Wing or Snowspeeder. I have a goal to build all six on-screen Red Squadron X-Wings, plus the Blue Leader and the Partisan one from Rogue One. I currently have 7 1/72 scale Bandai ones with the 8th waiting at my brother's house.

Progress, might night get finished on time, but progress.

The color is about what I remember. The rust pits aren't too bad, but in a couple of places all of the paint and primer flaked off guess I'll touch them up with a bit of rust paint.

Looking good Mark, I've used the salt technique on a few models.

The real trick is using the right "scale" salt crystals. I've used everything from Kosher, to flake, to sea salt to plain old Iodized depending on the scale of the model and how much you are going to want to chip the paint.

Your pictures of the shell do indeed have the worn, rusted look you're after.

Mark, I would apply some dry rust pigment over the affected areas and I'll be done with! It looks wells as is, I dare say.

Mark, it's looking nice and crusty, great work!

As Gabriel said, a touch of rust and dust pigment here and there will complete the picture!

I'm calling it done.

I plan on taking some more/better pictures tonight. I was playing around with shutter speed, ISO and F-Stop when I took this one.

This one was taken at ISO100, F22 and around 5 seconds exposure time.

David,
Well done. Your Bronco is a winner for sure. I'll add you to the list.

As far as your photo settings, when I'm using a tripod, that's about what I end up with, with my lighting setup.
